trenken Posted June 29, 2011 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Ugh, tough one but I went with Xanadu. Im having to start really picking these songs apart at this point. Went with Xanadu because Neil stole many of the lyrics from a book, so that's pretty lame. Plus the whole goofy fantasy thing they had going on at the time. Ill bet Gandalf from Lord of the Rings loves this song though! Almost went with Subdivions because it just sounds so painfully 80s and dated at this point, hasnt stood the test of time for me like Red Barchetta has for example, but had to go with Xanadu over it for the corny lyrics, that Neil didnt even really write. There are 4* songs on this list which I'd consider to be in Rush's top 25 at this point (Subdivisions and The Camera Eye without a doubt, and maybe Natural Science and LVS). It's really basically just 1 song that's duplicated, kind of a cheap way to make a song longer, although Xanadu is like that too. At least Neil wrote the lyrics for TCE though, so I chose Xanadu over that. Plus no fantasy theme that does not work for me in rock songs.
