My two favorite VT songs are the overlooked gems Vapor Trail and Sweet Miracle. I have never seen anybody talk about Sweet Miracle, and I think it is a top ten of their last 6 albums.

I like Sweet Miracle . One of the better VT songs.

Nocturne is probably my favorite on the record. Also love Freeze, Earthshine, Vapor Trail, Secret Touch, Ceiling Unlimited, Sweet Miracle, Stars Look Down, Peacable Kingdom, One Little Victory, Ghost Rider. Well I guess I think the whole darn thing is pretty good. Maybe they will remaster the thing while I'm still alive to hear it:)

VT is an excellent album. If the production wasn't so crappy, it would have made a big difference for people. IMO, song for song, it is the best album of any done in the 90's and Snake and Arrows.

One of my least favorite songs on the album is OLV. But Ceiling Unlimited, Ghost Rider, Vapor Trail, Secret Touch, Nocturne and Earthshine are all great Rush songs. I couldn't pick another Rush album from the 90's forward that has 6 songs that i like as much.

The Time Machine set list would have been greatly improved if they had included Vapor Trail and Nocturne or even brought back Ceiling Unlimited which had a limited live run. Those songs have great energy and would have been very fresh live.

The whole album has a great energy, great lyrics and is very cohesive from start to end.

The remix should do a lot for people to rediscover it.

You should've know better, Goobs!

Myself, I'm in the "like it" camp. Not my favorite but some really good songs (OLV, HII, GR, ST) and a feeling of exhilaration to it. Looking forward to the remix...

And so you should be, agreeing with that reprobate and rapscallion!

I like VT. One Little Victory is still a mess and the worst song they've ever played live, but overall I like the album. It contains some of Kneel's better lyrics.

Love Vapor Trails, always have and it will always hold a special memory for me since it was the first thing they had written since their hiatus. And the material is Rush through and through. Unless of course your trapped in 1977 and can't accept the fact that the idea of progressive music is to progress.

The Stars Look Down, whats up with that song, how does it blend into the context of Vapor Trails? SRO must have pissed off the guy (or girl) that was giving Rush all the inspiring thoughts during January - May of 1995, and a huge misunderstanding ensued.

Not that I have an opinion or anything.

Like the fly on the wheel, who says

"What a lot of dust we're raising"

Are you under the illusion

That you're part of this scheme?

Seems like a lifetime ago

You could look with pride

On your world of dreams

What is the meaning of this?

And the stars look down

What are you trying to do?

And the stars look down

Was it something I said

And the stars look down

Like the rat in a maze who says,

"Watch me choose my own direction"

Are you under the illusion

The path is winding your way?

Are you surprised by confusion

When it leads you astray?

Have you lived a lifetime today -

Or do you feel like you just got carried away?

What is the meaning of this?

And the stars look down

What are you trying to do?

And the stars look down

Was it something I said?

And the stars look down

Something you'd like me to do?

And the stars look down

The stars look down

The Eh heh yay parts in the title track makes that song unlistenable to me. Its so bad. Sweet Miracle sounds a little corny to me. If it were on an Elton John album it might fit right in. Way too soft rock for me.

Seriously?

The verses indicate that, while we may think we are running the show, we are not.

The chorus... A man who found out this truth is asking WHY? and the stars look down - the universe doesn't care and will not answer that question.

Knowing what we do about the writer's personal history immediately prior to this album, it should make a bit more sense now. Yes?

Vapor Trails is my favorite post-Power Windows album. Earthshine and Secret touch are two of the greatest Rush songs ever and the most of the album is really strong. There is so much layering on the album, it is somewhat challenging for listeners, but one cool thing is there is always something new for my ears to explore when I listen to it. As for Sweet Miracle, that song proved to be a sleeper for me, ie, I appreciate it much more now than I did when VT first released. goodpost.gif
