EagleMoon
I'm really a bass player but I do have several guitars. A PRS P22, a Fender American Deluxe Strat, and and an Agile Les Paul copy.

The Analog Grownup
Haven't posted an updated gear porn pic in a while. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/1001001/Guitars/DSC00003a_zpsc56ae2bd.jpg My mind keeps gravitating to setups like that, but with two amps (only one with effect loop) running effects becomes to much of a hassle. I always end up with the simple route. I may be limited in sounds, but at least I can wrap my head around it. One amp dry and the other with overdrive and delay panned hard left and right. Oh and a wah in front of both amps.

CygnusX-1Bk2
11s... These strings go to eleven.Well they start there. I use Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy bottom which are .010-.052, though I've been contemplating changing. I like the heavier E, especially after playing bass for so long. 11s are just a hair too thick for me on the high side.
Xanadu
Anyone own a 12-string guitar? I love the sound of those but changing the strings must be a real pain in the ass!
TFEman
Anyone own a 12-string guitar? I love the sound of those but changing the strings must be a real pain in the ass!Yeah,I do. Built a double neck myself. I recommend using a string winder, unfortunately, I don't have one anymore and I string it by hand. Not fun, but not as bad as most people think. It doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the twelve neck, though the thin strings cause easy breakage
CygnusX-1Bk2
Anyone own a 12-string guitar? I love the sound of those but changing the strings must be a real pain in the ass!I have both an acoustic and an electric 12 string. Changing strings on the acoustic is a bit easier because of the bridge pins. My electric 12 string is a Ric and the bridge is a pain in the ass because you have to slide the string end underneath to slip the end into the individual slots. Because of how the bridge is mounted it's hard to see and some of the "balls" don't always catch their slots so that when the string is being wound the end will pop out. That is unique to Rickenbackers though. At one point I had one of the Ibanez "Lawsuit" doublenecks that was essentially an EDS-1275 and the 12 string on that was much easier. I never really liked that guitar so I got rid of it after about a month. Edited April 18, 2015 by CygnusX-1Bk2
micgtr71
I had a 12 but got rid of it because I never used it. I would bring it on a gig to play one song that really didn't need it. It was a Garrison. Nice gtr, but took up space that other gtrs could occupy.

Scatterbrain
I've got a cherry red Gibson Custom EDS-1275 that takes far too long to restring, but certainly makes for a mean Xanadu (or Zep....or Mahavishnu). Killer guitar that always gets a great reaction when busted out onstage.

Maverick
As big of a fan of the double neck 12x6 configuration as I am (Howe, Lifeson, Page, Bonamassa) I just don't think I would want to mess with one. But if I became famous and started touring, and had a guitar tech, I'd certainly get one. So that means I will never have one.

Truth be told, I could prolly be talked into an Epiphone 12x6. Or if I suddenly decided to really do it up right, go with a Music Man 12x6 like Bonamassa has, with dual piezo bridges. Now I'm starting to get horny.

The Analog Cub
Being away from your axes for many months, you start scheming...I ordered this last week and had it shipped to the house. My dad's going to have a local guitar tech (shameless plug for 965 Guitars!) swap the old bridge out for this new Quadmatic bridge, so it's ready for me when I get home. This needed to be done for years. To change strings on the stock bridge you had to take the damn thing off the guitar and wrap them around through the bottom and f**k with the intonation after you put it back on. Dumb design decision by BC Rich in my opinion with that stock bridge cause you had no room to slide the strings in without the ends getting stuck on the bridge pickup. Any thinner and I get paranoid playing them cause I'm afraid I'll break them. Never tried the STHB's before, does it take any adjusting on the guitar to make it right with that much of a string gauge difference (truss rod, etc.)? Xanadu
I was just looking at the Carvin website. My God, those are beautiful looking guitars. If anyone can speak to the quality of their sound, let me know.
