Der Trommler
QUOTE (sanzo @ Nov 14 2007, 06:15 PM)Is the regular dw edge snare the same as Neils R30 snare, except wrap and design? I have one and its not similar,is there any in depth look into Neils snare tuning Yes, the Edge snare has the same properties. They make them with Birch & Maple wood. The depths are different but the sound is amazing!!! Now, to note, the R30 snare covering is almost what you can get! The black mirra finish is available....The artwork is the only thing you'd need to get! http://www.dwdrums.com/snares/snareimages/Neil-Peart-Snare.jpg http://www.dwdrums.com/drums/lq/lss-black-mirra.jpg
Jack Aubrey
QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Oct 31 2007, 05:57 PM) Ha! My new, custom made-for-me Spaun snare drum. It is a 7 x 14 Spaun Edgevent drum in a "Deep Purple" finish, featuring the "Swiss Cheese" vent pattern. The Edgevent is a dual shell drum that has vent holes along the bearing edges that vent out the outer shell. The inner shell is pure with no protrusions from hardware. It has a distinct note and is extremely crisp. http://home.earthlink.net/~jcdiazjr/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/10-24-07_2310.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~jcdiazjr/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/10-24-07_2309.jpg I would still like to get a DW R30 (or at the very least an Edge) and there is a rumor that they will be doing a Snakes & Arrows model. This brings my snare collection up to 5, all time high. tascam
Looks like there is a bunch of parts missing to your snare. I hope they took 50% off the price, since there is 50% missing from the shell! Today's special.....Snares 50% off!
CygnusX-1Bk2
QUOTE (tascam @ Dec 7 2007, 10:26 AM) Looks like there is a bunch of parts missing to your snare. I hope they took 50% off the price, since there is 50% missing from the shell! Today's special.....Snares 50% off! Actually it was free to me. Not bad to get a $1500 drum for free! A friend of mine won it and a full Spaun kit as a sales incentive (he works for Guitar Center). He had tried to get me an R30 when he went to the DW factory, but when they found out it was for me and not him they forced him to design a custom drum for himself (which he did from a piece of his grandmother's apron. It is really cool actually). So when he was leading the incentive contest he told me he wanted to "make it up" to me and offered that if he won both the kit and snare he would give the snare to me and I could choose whatever drum I wanted to my specs. So of course I chose their most expensive model. Edited December 7, 2007 by CygnusX-1Bk2

TheSpiritofCygnusSawyer
They do have the S&A snare out. I was at Guitar Center the other day, I think it was on sale for $900 from a list price of $1600. But she's so beautiful
Deadwing
The newest addition to my collection of drums and other percussion: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Lerxst/IMG00034.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Lerxst/IMG00032.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Lerxst/IMG00035.jpg It's a traditional two sided drum from South Korea called a Chang-gu. I also included a picture of the bamboo stick and mallet that came with it that you use to play it. My friend Dana had it made while she waited (it took the man about 25 minutes), and she sent it over to me as a Christmas gift. It's friggin awesome! One of the best gifts I've ever received and I'm so grateful for it.
Rush!
That is really neat! Be sure to include a video of you playing it! I'd like to hear what that sounds like. Thanks for sharing.

PW_Guitarist
Well, I'm not good enough for a double bass either. In fact, some may say I am not good enough for a single bass . But, it came with the kit, so I for now it's a fancy tom stand, but I will practice my double bass for kicks (pun intended). It's actually an 83 Superstar, in regular tom depth (not concert or "Xtras") with 24" kicks, similar to what Neil used in the PeW-MP era. His kit had a custom rosewood finish and vibra-fibed interior, plus the high concert toms. I've been looking for something like that for over 15 years. When I got them, they were in sorry shape, but with new heads and lots of wood and chrome polish, they came back to life.

YYZ Working Man
artstars had a thinner shell and vibra-fibed is no longer used.. very rare to fine a kit that is vibra-fibed and especially an artstar prototype...The rosewood kit Neil had amazing tone response off his toms and so well in tune
