Almost 30 years later, that scene is still an important rite of passage. Can't graduate high school without seeing it. I think it's a required part of most curriculums now. Agreed. Everytime this scene comes up, I stop everything I'm doing to watch it. The ending (as shown earlier in this thread) caps it off perfectly!
  5. QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ Jan 27 2011, 08:18 PM) Am I the only one who doesn't think Megan Fox is attractive? She runs hot and cold with me, she's hot with certain shots and others I move on. But that's just me. Besides, my favs are Nicole Kidman, Alyssa Milano, and Jennifer Anniston.
  6. QUOTE (summer_sky @ Feb 20 2011, 07:17 PM) I love Julia Child. For years, I watched her show on American PBS TV. I learned so much about cooking, cuisines, foods and kitchenwares and lore from Julia Child. She was an incredibly accomplished chef and had a very distinctive way of presenting delicious simple-yet-elegant to the most complicated-yet-achievable dishes while teaching haute-cuisine technique and practical skills. Julia Child also had a lovely sense of humour about life and herself. I miss Julia Child. How to make an omelette... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWmvfUKwBrg bon appetite! My throat hurts when I'd listen to her but her life was fascinating.
  7. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Feb 21 2011, 01:25 AM) I've seen a couple episodes, and really didn't like it. Okay. Fair. Certain types of comedy doesn't take with some peeps. I'm not sure about one of the actors on this cast Wendy Mallik? She seems to be the same as other things she's done but the rest really can make me laugh.
  8. Looked decent enough and Valerie Bertinelli looked hot so I figured to give a go. So far, it hasn't disappointed and Betty White is hilarious. Anyone else watch this?

  15. QUOTE (Der Trommler @ Apr 29 2010, 11:47 AM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Apr 29 2010, 09:49 AM) QUOTE (FootballYouBet @ Apr 29 2010, 06:43 AM) I've been to the Black Rose many times, and understand the whole Irish Bar/music angle, which is cool, but I'm not sure that's the best way to go for the Rush gig. For example, I assume that most people are going to be driving in and parking at the parking garages inside or next to the venue. I would also venture to guess that most of them don't know their way around Boston either. Especially these people from Scotland. You want to make them take a train from the venue and then a train back to the venue in a city they don't know? To me it makes more sense and it's far more convenient to just walk across the street to one of the many Sports Bars across the street from the Garden. The Fours, Boston Beer Works, Hurricane O'Reilly's, and The Harp. Here's another one. Let's say you're running late getting out of the bar. It's a 30 second walk across the street to the venue. You run late coming out of The Black Rose and you could miss some of the show. Just my humble opinion. I can see your point, and people do have the option to go to other places. Many of the people meeting up have done these meet ups before and always plan on leaving to get to the venue at least 30 minutes before showtime. For people who live outside the city or are unfamiliar with Boston, I always recommended to take the train in, because it is ridiculously expensive to park in Boston, especially around the Garden. The MBTA is the most inexpensive, least confusing mode of transportation. The only thing you have to know is where you're getting on and where your getting off, and the MBTA website can even plan your route for you beforehand. I myself am coming down from New Hampshire for the show, and will be coming in on the T because 1) Driving in Boston is HORRIBLE - especially for those who don't know the city - it's a maze of one-way streets (I grew up just outside of Boston and lived there for 28 years before moving up to NH - and I will not drive in Boston) 2) my husband and I will be dropping our son off with my parents in Framingham and it's more convenient for us. Some people who aren't familiar with the whole Train system have the option of meeting us at the train station we're traveling in on and riding in with us (that would most likely be the Green Line, probably from Riverside). Keep in mind that the plans are just tentatively being worked out right now. It's very easy to get to and from the Garden via the MBTA. To get back to the Garden, we'd all be walking as a group to the State Street station (Orange Line going towards Oak Grove), which is a 5 minute walk from the Black Rose, and taking the same train up the 2 minute ride to North Station (which lets off underneath the Garden). *edited to add* just an FYI, those bars right around the Garden are small and are usually packed, especially on event nights. We'll have a fairly large group of people, some of them are minors who would not be able to get into a bar. The Black Rose is a restaurant and pub, where minors are allowed in (so long as they're sitting at a table) - and a location that is a little further away from the Garden won't be as packed on a Thursday night as one that is right across the street from the Garden. I've been going in to Boston almost my whole life. I am familiar with the Orange line mostly (because I used to live in Malden-about 4 miles outside of Boston). I do recommend using the "T" (MBTA) and riding in. The Green line and Orange line meet right at the Garden. Like LSM said, if anyone is unsure about using the "T," let us know. We'll be more than happy to ride in with you. My guess is that we are either using the Red or the Green line.... I, too, as an avid dart player have shot in many of these pubs. They are over crowded and expensive. I'd assume we follow what LSM has for plans.

  17. LSM made a very good point. Moving Pictures in order in the same key as it originally was would be murder on voice. It would make more sense to spread the album across the entire night. For me, I am not taking a guess. While being right when I was younger, I could almost never get the opening song. It would drive me nuts. For R30, an old friend of mine was actually correct in Tom Sawyer while I disagreed. It could be that that open again with Tom Sawyer but with Limelight and Tom Sawyer already done. I'm think they might go with an older favorite starter: The Spirit of Radio Other than that, they will play all of MP and will have his solo. After that, there are a few I think they'll play....

Didn't Rush used to sneak in songs they were working on for a new album while on the road? I can swear I remember them playing a song from the next album that they were working on in the studio to get a reaction. What if that's part of the Time Machine Mentality? Or, could break out the old Tama's and get all those synths and double neck guitars.....Then there's the kimono's and ah, I'm thinking too much into this. I like the new way they play just the same as the old. I'm curious though about what the rest of the setlist is going to comrpise of..... DT! I was also just thinking, what if it wasn't only the setlist that was sent through the TIME MACHINE. How about crazy vintage nostalgia all about. How about introducing The Trees with BROON'S BANE?! I know they are going to play Jacob's Ladder, I can feel it in my bones, but what about that awesome sweet little acoustic guitar intro bit like Alex did on Exit Stage Left? How about the big screen and special effects etc? Maybe bring back the COUNT FLOYD video from Grace Under Pressure Tour as intro to "The Weapon" or the Giant Presto Rabbit or the Nuts 'n Bolts concert intro from Counterparts. Man there are piles and piles of stuff they can do with this theme! How about NINETEEN SEVENTIES BEER PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they brought back the Count Floyd video and played the Weapon, I'd pass out right then and there. Me too, that'd be phenominal... You're a huge Rush tour veteran, when they played it back on that tour was it REALLY in 3D or just a joke for filming it? You know 3D is making such a huge comeback... just sayin! Maybe we'll see this beauty in our time machine adventure! One of my favs! I loved the Count Floyd intro but I would be stoked if they just played the song. It's been a LOOONG time since I've heard it live! The Weapon to me is kinda like TCE to everyone else. If they played The Weapon, they should play all of Fear in succession (wow, that would be awesome!!!)

  21. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 8 2010, 08:42 AM) Hey, question here as I'm too lazy to go look - has "Chemistry" ever been done live? I'm thinking not. . . Yes...recently, I believe...R30?
  22. QUOTE (Drumnut @ Mar 26 2010, 01:50 AM) QUOTE (Der Trommler @ Mar 25 2010, 09:18 AM)QUOTE (Drumnut @ Mar 25 2010, 03:07 AM) None today, I had to go and have a blood drug levels checked today, they're going to call me and me if it's okay. If not, I'm gonna have to take more drugs I hate every day. My decided that the Ritalin was too much for me. (I already stopped taking it). He thinks that he needs to double my Celexa dosage (has a side effect that is conducive in bed-No, it's not the Viagra thing though). I tell him and he still wants to have it doubled and then he can give me another med to offset Celexa. I'm changing providers. This isn't worth it.... I hate it when Dr's just keep throwing drugs at something until they think they've found one that works. I'm on Lamictal right now and have the worst side effects of any drug I've ever taken. It's not controlling my seizures, and a known side effect is hair loss. Mine is falling out all over the place. My Dr claims he's never heard of the hair loss side effect. I still want to go back on the drug I liked, Dilantin, but my Dr won't let me. I'm taking Lamictal and Keppra and am on disability. Once I reach a certain limit cost-wise, disability stops paying for it and it ain't cheap! Once I reach my cost limit, I have no way to pay for it. Dilantin is cheap and I feel it's the best drug I've ever taken for Epilepsy. I wish I could figure out a way to convince him to let me try it again, the 2 drugs I'm taking right now aren't controlling my seizures anyway. Now that I'm looking at possible surgery, I'm going to tell him I want to try Dilantin again before I go through with surgery. No seizures for me today. I went to see a different Dr for something else and that went well today. I hear ya...He signed the FMLA form but only gave me 1-2 hours 2-3 days a week with a total of 3 months overall. Which means that if I get an anxiety attack at work and my work calls the paramedics again to take me to the ER, I go way over that time. He is not thinking this one out at all. I have another appointment with a therapist who is sort of a placement person for the psych's. I'm hoping that I can get just the simple things I need. A med that works with little side effects to me. The FMLA form changed to allow me anytime I need to take off so that I can control the anxiety. The FMLA is also in place so that I can have appointments with doctors and not run the risk of having it put against me. So, aggravated right now. I hear ya on yours. I hope you fare better than right now.
