I try not to have expectations - it's more about anticipation for me. Given that I love Caravan and BU2B AND the thought of a more "epic" track on there, then my anticipation is high.

Everyone is excited about that Epic track on Clockwork Angels. Alex better deliver!

i don't get my hopes up anymore especially when alex comments. i find that when a band says little or nothing about a new release, it turns out to be a good thing. when they comment, i think they are marketing and trying to push the new material. hey al, keep your piehole shut, and just play. tongue.gif

Hey, Leave Al alone! He's amusical genious! (Wipes snot off nose!)

If you hate CA, listen to BU2B, and pretend you are in a band playing it (Drums, bass, guitar, whatever).

This ALWAYS does the trick for me for any Rush song. It always brings out the best qualities of any piece.

i'm not holding my breath with this one. vocally it seems less melodic and more cram style which means less space to play. i'm not a fan of this.

musically it sounds edgier and raw but the melodic side has suffered. i hope the rest of the album is a complete about face from these first two tracks because honestly they have fallen off my playlist.

Caravan and BU2B are great and a much needed return to what Rush does best! UIf you can't hear that... you need help!

all i was saying was that to my ears, and everyone hears things differently, they sound edgier but not very melodic to my ears. also imo there needs to be less singing on geddy's part to allow more room for the music. there's no right or wrong here. you like it and i don't seem to care for it. just because rush creates something doesn't mean it's automatically great.

Based on the first 2 songs, I'm gonna give it a 4 and hope I'm wrong and the rest is much better. Sorry!

What da f**k, goob? I hope a month's self-reflection has done you some good and you now see the error of your ways.

I anticipate an 8. BU2B and Caravan are better than I could've imagined, so here's to hoping it exceeds my expectations. trink39.gif

Honestly I am trying to not have expectations. I have found stuff to like on every single Rush release. Some were instant classics to me, Some took a while. But truly I have never been disappointed.

If anything, when I think of the album, I actually have more of a feeling of dread than some kind of positive expectation, and I try not to think about it at all. I gotta say that I'm really disappointed by Caravan / BU2B. It's not that they're horrible songs (although the lyrics on BU2B are pretty bad), it's just that I thought S&A was a sign of good things to come, and those two songs don't match up to the great material on S&A.

Damn, I keep wanting to think this band has it again. They were virtually flawless from 1974-1987. Then there were two not so hot releases redeemed by the excellent Counterparts. Then there were two REALLY not so hot releases redeemed by the almost excellent Snakes & Arrows.

I really hope they can put two great released together in a row, but if those first two songs are any indication, I don't see it happening. Like I said, though, I'm hoping for two, maybe three great songs. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be more. Maybe I won't even get that...

I voted an 8. I love Caravan & BU2B, two instant classics for me because of the hard rock jam of Caravan and BU2B's music is so powerful, I just get so pumped by Ged's playing on this song, such awesome note choices plus he plays with such fire on both tunes.

Howevah, this is modern Rush and I know full well that for every Caravan there will be a Hand Over Fist or two added to the mix. I just hope those are kept to a minimum.

Rush are the Beethoven's & Mozarts of our generation I can only imagine the kind of pressure this puts one under. But their ability to just shake this off, go in and record great music, is just one of their many, many talents.

All I know is that I will pre-order it. Take a week or two off work when it arrives and play it to death. Then no doubt go through every emotion while listening from dislike to love. It is always the way with Rush for me.

Our souls can sing to the Universe's song.

I hope they do some bare bones straight bass ,guitar, drums along with mandolin and acoustic tunes on the album. They best for me would be to hear such diversity in their sound. I really liked Working man with the reggae beginning live. Shows just how talented musicians Rush is ! Looking forward to the next CD. Hopefully they stick to their word and hit the studio after a brief break . The sooner they get in the studio, after being so loose touring the better i think the next album will be. I think Rush might just produce the best album they have ever produced . I am certainly looking forward to the release.

You're really going to take time off from work to listen to a cd? Are you serious?
