ILSnwdog
When I first saw the ads for the show, I thought...what a stupid idea for a show. Then I saw a few episodes, and I changed my mind. Very interesting program.
Mara
I'm slowly getting hooked as well. I really thought it would just be dull, but far from! I loved the episode when the son bought the crashed military helicopter.
Presto-digitation
Really great show. Loved the one where they bought the Shelby Cobra body frame that had been in storage and had the car built from the ground up. Also really dig when they have things like old Coke machines or barber's chairs restored. That stuff is way cool.
Xanadoood
Yeah, i have watched quite a few episodes, and its a damn entertaining show. It's amazing some of the stuff brought in. Seeing old gas pumps and barber chairs put back together is cool.

liquidcrystalcompass
I'm getting hooked on this show too. The treasure found at see was a good one too. The seller was asking $750K but Rick wouldn't go for more than $250K.
Jack Aubrey
Chum Lee and Corey should be fired, though. One is incompetent and the other's a pompous ass.

One is incompetent and the other's a pompous ass. They'll never get rid of them though. Corey is all right. Chum Lee is like their mascot The big doofus. Did you see the one where Coery bought a tattoo gun and promptly took it over to the tatto shop and traded it for a tattoo? He wound up skipping out of work for three hours and when he was confronted about it and told by the Old Man he'd work three hours overtime to make up for it, Corey just looked at him and said: "keep hoping" and walked off. And Rick just sat there the whole time and said nothing! I'd have fired his ass on the spot! Chum Lee was sent to the Old Man's house to pick up a necklace and sat on the Old Man's couch eating a sandwich and watching TV for four hours and then lied to the Old Man about traffic being bad and having to stop for gas. Both of them need to go.

The Old Man is a ballbuster when it comes to making deals. Rick is a fair deal type of guy but the Old Man is friggin cheap!

ChroniclesOfRush
Rick's constant nervous laughter is way grating. But the show is surprisingly easy to sit through. Some cool stuff. The quizes piss me off a bit because they always show the answers coming out of commercial. And I mean who isn't flipping over to the Science Channel during those dumbass HC commercials right? Or when they bring something in and the bald guy says, "If you don't mind, I have a friend who I want to look at this and tell me how much it's worth." Then they find out it's worth a lot more than what they had first thought. It's interesting to see how bad the bald guy wants to buy it at that point and how greedy the patron gets. Presto-digitation
I grew up in Vegas ('69-'90) and used to hang out at that Pawn Shop prior to them owning it. Wikipedia states they started the shop in 1988, but that's not exactly true. You can't just *start* a pawn shop in Las Vegas. There are limited and set numbers of licenses in Vegas (unless that's since changed). The shop they're in opened in 1981 and was owned and operated by a friend of my dad's until selling it to "The Old Man" and Rick. I used to go there all the time because my dad (who died this past Christmas) used to collect guns and he'd take me around to all his favorite shops before and after school. Likely I've been in there the first couple years the Pawn Stars crew has owned it, but my specific memories are earlier than that. Seeing I was collecting guitars from '87-'90, it's very likely I'd been back in after my dad's friend sold the business, although I don't remember or recognize these guys specifically. I left Vegas in 1990, but when I first saw Pawn Stars I immediately recognized the sign on the side of the building and parking lot next to the building. Spent a lot of time there. softfilter
I can see why these people go to pawn shops, "desperate for the cash". Nothing wrong with that, but then you have some coming on here that really have something valuable and just want to make a profit on it. Not going to happen no matter what the item is actually worth. So in essence these guys on pawn stars are going to rip them off. Which i understand THEY need to have a profit margin. Although I heard Rick say seller would lose money if taken to auction with fees and auctioneer commission. That's not necessarily true, if it's a truly valuable historic antique say a Civil War officers sword. The cost would be minimal compared to the potential for profit. Of course you have to make sure the auction specialize in the type of piece your trying to sell. Which inturn would attract the type of buyers who would be interested in what you have. And there is a large market for War Between The States weapons, uniforms, other equipment etc. People really should do a little research first before they resort getting rid of a cherished family heirloom if they think it's worth some serious money. Pawn shop not the way to go. I like Antique Roadshow for the reasons stated above.
Khan
The show is a trip and I love watching it but I have to say I'm getting a little tired of every episode hearing Rick say: "I really want to have the (insert item here) in my shop, but before I make an offer I need to call in a buddy of mine to take a look at it".
