RUSHHEAD666
No way in HELL! What a way to break in the new year! Heck I just made a lame Smashing Pumpkins Soundgarden Thread!! I've seen Soundgarden twice in my life. They were fukkkking great! REAL GRUNGE LIVES!! Signed, "JESUS CHRIST POSE" One of the greatest songs on the planet. I didn't read the links but does this mean that Matt is leaving Pearl Jam?? I hope so! "Backspacer" is a ZERO ERASER.

Fridge
QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jan 1 2010, 12:56 PM) Very good news, but....how is Cornell's voice these days? That was my concern too. If he's back on form then great news, but a lot of the credit for Soundgardens uniqueness goes to Cornells singing, so if he's not at the top of his game then that will take the shine off it.... Shifty
Awesome news. They definitely finished up way too early. Reunions can be a mixed bag, so hopefully this one will be one of the better ones.

Mara
Ugh. That "Black Hole Sun" song is one of my most-hated. It will not leave my brain for weeks if I am unlucky enough to hear it.

His voice has sounded awesome in everything he's done the past decade since Soundgarden broke up. If they make another album, I doubt Cornell will sing the same way he did back in the Louder Than Love days... hey, he was in his 20's then. Really, though, this is great news. first AIC comes back with an excellent, excellent album, so hearing about Soundgarden gives me even more hope for a good year in music. I thought Soundgarden was a band whose albums kept on getting progressively better with each release. Saw them at Memorial Stadium in '94 with Reverend Horton Heat and the Screaming Trees. Fantastic show. Edited January 2, 2010 by ozzy85
RUSHHEAD666
This might not have happened if his "solo career" had taken off. It totally BOMBED. Cornell covering a Michael Jackson song? Give me a fukkin' break. His last solo album was anything but ROCK or GRUNGE. It was a big pile of sample, drum machine SHIT. So when your EGO is damaged by a few horrific solo albums what do you do next? Reform the band of your ROOTS. Porno For Pyros was a good band, but then Perry went off the deep end and failed. Gee, let's get Jane's Addiction back together again. Instant success. The Cash Cow has been reborn. Time to suck the Timid Tit of Tradition. The utters that lay in the "Soundgarden" will be spraying milk money all over the faces of their deprived fans. I can't wait to taste the Milk Of Honeydew. How about you? Xanadoood
Just from past interviews, im pretty sure they would record some new material as well. They dont seem the type to just tour for a cash grab, but who knows. Maybe the punk ethic is long gone
Alex
LOL. Did they start running out of money or something? I LOVE this band but when they broke up I thought that was it for sure! I hope they are seriously interested in making music again and further exploring their art and not just ticket sales and money.
theworkingman
QUOTE (Alex @ Jan 2 2010, 12:40 PM) LOL. Did they start running out of money or something? I LOVE this band but when they broke up I thought that was it for sure! I hope they are seriously interested in making music again and further exploring their art and not just ticket sales and money. Were you even able to stand up straight when they broke up? They're reuniting because Chris Cornell's entire reputation has gone down the drain and he's pretty much lost all credibility with that POS solo album. Luckily he could still sing damn good so reuniting with Soundgarden seems like a good idea right now. Why are people even asking about a new album at this point. They JUST announced they're reuniting so obviosly all that is a mystery right now as to whether they will or won't record new music (although I hope they do). Are they reuniting just to gain a little extra cash? Sure. What band DOESN'T reunite with the motive of getting some extra money.
