Sonatine
I particularly loathe the current Halifax Building Society TV commercial airing here in the UK, where you have two members of the Halifax staff dressed up as radio DJs and playing cover versions like "Ice Ice Baby" but changing the name to "ISA ISA Baby". They try to look cool, hip & trendy, but in reality they look like two totally uncool Halifax staff dressed up as radio DJs. And what's worse the commercial is being played to death, which only makes me want to throw the tv out the window even more. Banks & Building Societies should give up on the notion that trying to be hip, groovy and "in the zone" with the public just doesn't work rant over

iluvgeddy05
For those who live in the Northeast and have Friendlys restaurants: The one where the soccer girls are in the back of a mini van annoyingly singing/shouting about fries and milkshakes and the soccer mom in front is singing along with them -- and the girls notice it and stop singing while the mother continues on, honking the horn along with the song. For one thing, I HATE singing kids. There is nothing that grates on my nerves more than a choir of children. Other than that, it's just cheesy, which is never effective!!! I lunge for the remote to mute the commercial when it comes on -- which is every damn morning I am watching the news before work.

circumstantial tree
Friendly's has good ice cream. As to my recent complaint, there's the Honey Bunches of Oats commercial. This commercial never bothered me because it featured what seemed like realistic mill workers dressed in work clothes including a black woman with a hair net underneath a red factory worker hat. The workers are supposed to be employees who make the cereal. Okay. But recently, all those realistic looking workers seem to have been replaced with brighter, cleaner, all too sweet people dressed in those same clothes, but they don't look real in them, particularly this one woman complete with a white toothy grin like she she really be doing a toothpaste commercial. My point is that the newer people look very fake. I mean, did the black woman with the hairnet offend anybody? circumstantial tree
Okay, the Bisquick commercial irritates. The background singer, that is. Why does she say "away" like it's "a were ay"? and there is another commercial, but I forget what product it's selling, but it's a rapid succession of people's faces. It's enough to give me a headache. Sure hope it's not a Bayer commercial.

Babycat
QUOTE (RushFanForever @ Jun 28 2009, 12:21 PM)This is an interesting article below: Why Are TV Commercials So Loud? Everytime I watch a programme & an ad unexpectedly comes up, I jump right out of my skin in shock & I have to make a grab for the remote. I think it's to make you sit up & take notice of the ad, to be honest. It certainly does that, I'll give it that...

IChoseFreeWill
Back around 1990, there was a very annoying (and borderline creepy) commercial for Calvin Klein's Obsession. An old "Chock Full O'Nuts" commercial that had a talking coffee bean gave me the creeps as well. Basically, any commercial that engages in male bashing or mysogyny. Natch
If I see another Hyundai commercial with the band "Pomplamoose" playing Holiday music, I'll throw my shoe through the TV screen. I rarely react with rage when I hear music, but these commercials get my blood boiling. To make matters worse, the commercials are on CONSTANTLY.
