I think the success or failure of Better Call Saul will depend on the tone they adopt in the series. If they focus more on the funny side, it may alienate the BB fanbase. An while I think it´s a VERY risky idea, I´m willing to give it a shot.

I agree with it being risky. If it isn't cutting edge and serious-minded, it's not going to fly.

Vince Gilligan said that Breaking Bad was 80% drama and 20% comedy. He said Better Call Saul will probably be 75% comedy and 25% drama.

I, for one, think that's the perfect approach, and I cannot wait to see it!

Sir Anthony Hopkins expressing his appreciation of Bryan Cranston's talents:

Acting legend Sir Anthony Hopkins recently binge-watched "Breaking Bad," and was so impressed that he wrote a letter to Bryan Cranston extolling the virtues of the cast and show.

The letter first surfaced on Reddit, and was reportedly shared by "Breaking Bad" actor Steven Michael Quezada (Gomez) on Facebook, although it appears to have been later deleted. However, The Huffington Post has confirmed the letter's authenticity with Hopkins' representatives.

Check out Hopkins' letter below:

Dear Mister Cranston.

I wanted to write you this email - so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber - I take it we are both represented by UTA. Great agency.

I've just finished a marathon of watching "BREAKING BAD" - from episode one of the First Season - to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. [Ed note: There are in fact five seasons of Breaking Bad; this might have been wishful thinking.] (I downloaded the last season on AMAZON) A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen - ever.

I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening bullshit in this business, and I've sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular - absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers.... every department - casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that over used word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to - would you pass on my admiration to everyone - Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada - everyone - everyone gave master classes of performance ... The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

You and all the cast are the best actors I've ever seen.

That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It's almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email.

Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.

Best regards

Tony Hopkins.

I don't know why anybody who watched Breaking Bad would expect Better Call Saul to be a serious drama and not more comedy based.

I think BCS will be to Breaking Bad what Boston Legal was to the Practice... Still technically a drama, with a comedic bend.

If it does turn out to be in a similar vein as Boston Legal was, I would have no problem with that.

I think I'm hooked.

And that won't stop until you reach the end of the series. Then again, it may not even stop after that either.

Best show i've ever seen. Those last 3 episodes, holy crap!

I felt like they were building up the whole show for that one moment in the second to last episode just so they could use the theme during the show that one time. It was so perfect.

I'm on season 2 episode 2. This is a pretty intense show.

You haven't seen anything yet when it comes to how intense this show gets.

The best part is that early season two is arguably the lowest point in the show. It only goes uphill from here.

Watching through the show again and in season two there's something that's worth discussing - potentially a plot hole!

Remember Combo's death? He died because he was in another territory. Walt decided they should expand the territory to raise profit, he was kind of suggesting a pyramid model where Skinny P, Badger, and Combo would bring on 3 more recruits each. Remember the recruits these three got? Yeah, never happened, yet they still stepped out of their territory. Maybe they were hoping to get recruits outside of where they were already working, but Walt and Jesse were giving the instructions, and Jesse didn't like the idea of expanding (Walt did) and Walt isn't stupid, he'd measure out the risk vs reward and decide it'd be better if they got the recruits within their part of town. So there you have it, this show isn't perfect after all!
