When, in your view, did the sport's *Golden Boy* get preferential treatment due to their status or money making potential?

Which leagues or teams engaged in shady doings in order to protect their golden goose?

Athletes escaping punishment, or getting off too easy?

Refs and higher ups looking the other way?

Blatant double standards?

Obviously this discussion is all theoretical and stuff and nothing is proven, unless it has been :eh:

Philly needs to slam Mahomes on his head. concuss his ass, separate his shoulder...whatever takes him out of the game. Take the 15 yards and eventual fine, but win the game. Philly only needs to tell Carter once to do this.

MLB covered up for Shohei Ohtani. The interpreter is just a fall guy who will receive a nice quiet payoff when he gets released.

I like Mahomes, but he is protected from on high by the prince of darkness himself. The NFL just has to have him in the Super Bowl every year. (I'm speaking for all those long-suffering Bills fans out there who think they were robbed.)

All the major sports have embraced gambling, yet the react with horror when there's any sniff of impropriety with the players. Sports is corrupt as politics.

I'm somewhat surprised some team has not taken the strategy of win by attrition in the superbowl. You target and take out 3-4 key players and the game is yours. So Roger isn't handing you the trophy because you played dirty? Pffft yeah right.

Take out Travis Kelce and we'd have Taylor Swift writing a whole album about it. That wouldn't be good.

Why would you do something that could so obviously be nullified by simple retaliation? "You broke our QB's knee; let's see how your guy's knees are." "You concussed our RB on a late hit; we can hit late, too."  Unless the players on Team A are so skilled at the dark arts of injury that Team B doesn't realize what's happening, "taking out" 3-4 key players would work both ways. Maybe the game winds up with the last eleven of the 55 guys on the field. Who's got the deeper Taxi Squad?

Football is a violent game. There are still headhunters in the league. There will be injuries in the game that affect the outcome. You can't tell me that there aren't players that are willing to deliver a cheap shot if given a chance. Oh penalize me, fine me....pffft whatever...I want a trophy. Mahomes is especially vulnerable since I couldn't name his backup.

Patricia Mahomes, Karen Rogers, Cindy Crosby-the usual suspects.

Sketchy for Thomasina Brady, and jury out for Sh HOtei Otani.

A lot of my NECKCAR friends contend Jeff Gordon had a blind eye turned at some his track behavior. They also say they're hard pressed to hold off against Bubba Wallace.

Soccer also has its share of shifty af occurrences.  Why else would fans come up with "He bites who he wants, he bites who he wants, Luis Suarez, he bites who he wants"?

Today's football violent, my ass.  Patricia, Karen, and Thomasina wouldn't have lasted two seasons back in the 60's.  All of them would have been crippled, jibbering wrecks.  And you defensive guys would not have immune if you were up against hard heads like Doug Atkins and Conrad Dobler.   Gouging, biting, hidden groin shots, and worse.  Dobler allegedly had a tactic of his hands planting a D line man's foot into the turf, then driving his shoulder into the guy's knee.  Nah, today's feetsball pansies need to stfu.

We f-cked Mahomey in the arse.  It was glorious.  Without ONE blitz in the Super Bowl.  Owned him. ;)
