BastillePark Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Because of a strike, schools didn't finish until June 18th and they start up on Aug 8th. Not even two months off. Pinheads.
BastillePark Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Average rainfall for July around these parts is all of .48 inches but this year we only got .07 inches. High temp was 103 and low of 52.
BastillePark Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 It's funny watching the swimmers walking out wearing winter, puffy coats in their efforts to keep warm.
JohnRogers Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 It might be time to put my mother in the crooked nursing home on the bad side of the railroad tracks.

Nah, residential solar when you’re in the middle of a massive urban area isn’t all that useful or cost-effective. Plus we hardly use any electricity until we eventually buy an electric car Summer power bills never get above $75 for us

I took my mother out for a sporty Miata drive to faraway lands the other night. She actually had a great time. Sure we broached 90 in a 30, but it should be posted at 35 or 40 Its my secret dead-end racetrack anyway Edited August 3, 2024 by That One Guy

HemiBeers Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 The economy is supposedly one of the major factors in this year's elections. I've been thinking the last couple years really haven't been so bad in comparison to other harsh economies during my lifetime. So I decided to nerd out on stats, which I tend to do, to prove/disprove my point. Here's a comparison of this year's averages to averages in a final year of another presidency. I'll mention the presidency after the figures for 'Year X'. Year X 2024 Unemployment rate 7.1 4.1 Inflation rate 4 3 Mortgage rate 13.8 6.8 GDP 6.8 2.4 So as you can see, 2024 is comparatively much better than Year X. But the GOP wants to whip up 'the economy sucks' mantra in the masses. Year X was 1984 and Reagan was re-elected in a landslide. Ouch, don't let stats kick you in the ass on the way out of the door GOP. 1

When he walked me through their 'cost justifications', it turned out to be maybe a 9 to 10 year payback. Most people sell their houses after 7 years so that's a stupid payback. After a couple of months he saw through the sliminess and the scamming and got another job. The company declared bankruptcy a few months later (which he predicted they would). Yet their doors are still open and they're still operating. So yeah, convince me on solar. I dare you. 1
