Sadly about the same as the first listen I gave it. It’s comfortable, and enjoyable, but it just feels less enthusiastic than Around The World And Back or Kings Of The New Age. Lyrically it’s still got a few good punchlines up it’s sleeve, but he sounds so dejected and exhausted after a really bad relationship or two, and I just don’t think that tone works very well with their sound.

Don’t doubt that they still kill live though. Would love to see them.

Beyoncé- Cowboy Carter

ngl, she lost me somewhere in the middle, and the end didn’t work for me… but for the first like third of the album I was in total aoty mode. And one thing that’s for darn sure is this is maybe the best sounding album of the whole year. The production is just magnificent.

And now:

Mastodon- Leviathan

Damn this album is just so f***ing flawless, it's insane how great they were so early on! Most great and revered metal albums aren't even a tenth this brilliant.

Crossings

Sextant

Head Hunters

Weather Report-Heavy Weather.

Been Playing a lot of Jazz Fusion lately but these two  i keep Coming back too.  Weather report is just awesome and features the great Jaco Pastorious who i know from Joni Mitchell.  he was on Hejira. LOVE his bass work.

and herbie Hancock......GOD DAMN head Hunters is funky.  I prefer his fusion work to davis (honestly from what i've heard i prefer most otther fusion to Davis)

i discovered a genre that i didn't think i'd fall for.

Thus Love - All Pleasure

Amyl And The Sniffers - Cartoon Darkness

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude To Ecstasy

Frankly I’m a total mark for TLDP.  The Queenisms are embedded deep, but with lyrics that read somewhere between Rumors and Greek mythology, and of course a visceral 2024 slant to the whole of it. If this doesn’t end up my number one aoty, I’d be willing to bet one of their next ones will, because somehow this is only their debut, and I feel like I’m listening to Queen II or SHA.
