Nightwish- Human Nature

Honestly I feel I came down hard on this album. This is a beautiful, vibrant, textured work with many layers. I actually found myself very immersed in this album.

Also, the drumming frequently reminds me of Toto.

Taylor Swift- Reputation

Still obsessed with this album six years later.

Van Hagar For U..C… Knowledge

   1991  (9.4/10)  👍

🤔 I haven’t played this in a while nor noticed anyone listening to it neither ..

I prefer the 1st two Van Hagar albums

and whilst I still do really like this album

I can’t quite give it the full 10 out of 10.

Vinnie Vincent’s Invasion

 - All Systems go , 1988 ( 7.5/10)

an ok album, but it’s like a watered down

( probably due to the usual record label pressure to make it more appealing to a broader audience 😡

version of the amazing VVI debut.

Between The Buried and me-Colors II (10/10)

i like this a lot more than the first Colors....great as it is.

This one has more of an 80's feel.  and there's a couple tracks that remind me of Haken's Affinity.

how do you feel about harsh growled vocals?  they do a mix of harsh and clean.  But.....if your cool with harsh vocals.  i can't recommend this band enough.

Normally as ‘ scream-o ‘ as I get is

Mike Patton / Devin Townsend and some early Opeth … I’ll be brave and maybe give it a try 😉

i really think you should.  i'll warn you when the harsh vocals are there.  they are...uh.....not subtle and it's really in your face.  i mean harsh vocals by nature aren't pretty but my firrst listens i felt really attacked:laugh:

BUT......they prog/metal band and the musical chops are just mind blowing.  and when they do clean vocals it's gorgeous.

they did 2 Colors albums.  the first from 07 is considered a classic.  but i have to say.  i'm a newer fan and i wholeheartedly recommend colors II over the first.

but that's from a newer fans perspective.  and BTW i love the first Colors as well.\\

Sepultura- Roots

I have never really paid much attention to Sepultura. This album was a really terrific listening experience though, and I definitely want to check out more.

Testament- The Legacy

I know some people favour early Testament, others prefer later...I love it all. I adore this album, when it's finished I'm tempted to play it again!

You should check out Arise from Sepultura. That's their best.

to me they're what you'd get if you took a death metal band and put it in a blender with DT, Porcupine Tree and a dash of Haken.  BTBAM would be the result.

I adore them.

I was on a metal high and was like...yeah Mick could appreciate them...didn't expect this from you!

Then again, Dan Fogelberg...my other half is getting sick to death of him 🤣

I love Van Hagar.  I PREFER the Roth-era, and I think they're really 2 different bands, but I do enjoy all of the Van Hagar albums.
