Also try Crest of a Knave for an 80s pop/hard rock style, again it has old school Tull elements as well but also a kind of Dire Straits vibe. This was the one that won the 1988 grammy for metal!

Yep will do 👍

Bet it must be Lars Ulrich’s Fav JT album then ! 😉🤣

When they won the metal grammy in 1992 Lars stated at the podium: "We would personally like to thank Jethro Tull for not releasing an album this year! Though TULL did release Catfish Rising the same year as Metallica 1991.

ok, all this talk about Survivor recently got me curious so:

Survivor - Survivor

Perhaps not the best album to start with but I guess it was their first so thats a logical starting place.  What did I think?  Well, the singer sounds a lot like Steve Perry of Journey (a good thing in my book).  The music and lyrics, well, they sound very late 1970's - which makes sense since the album came out in 1979.  Overall, the songs just sort of all sounded the same.  Not terrible but not awesome either.  Just all the same and kind of run of the mill.

Will try to work in a few more albums when I can.

Played on random. The problem with playing albums that we've been listening to since the 70s is that we know them note for note (in our mind, at least)

I often play 'too familiar' albums on random, just for the surprise element.
