Rhyta
Having mixed feelings about last night's game, I figured Florida would win but I think that penalty call with less than a minute left in the period was ill advised. What happened to not calling ticky tack penalties in a crucial game with little time left. I think Carolina got hosed by the refs, it was unfair to do that. I know that it was a legitimate call but the refs have discretion and I truly think it tarnishes the win (for me). I just wish they hadn't called it.

The German team would've been even more troublesome with Draisaitl and Stutzle on the roster. Let's hope the Canadians can pull it off on Sunday.

Rhyta
Yikes, USA loses to Latvia for the bronze. Geez, this is very sad to lose two in a row in overtime. Congrats to Latvia for their first medal in this tournament.

Of course, it's because of the Russia/Belarus ban, but still...
edhunter
The two teams playing for the Cup are from cities whose average annual snowfall is 1/10th of an inch....COMBINED. Nice job Bruins. Go Vegas!
Derek19
At the IIHF 2023 Ice Hockey World Championships in Tampere, Helsinki, Finland, in the playoff semi-finals, Canada, had to play Latvia, and Canada, won 4-2. In the other playoff semi-finals, U.S., had to play Germany, and Germany, won 4-3 in overtime. In the final for the Gold medal, it was Canada, and Germany, and Canada, won 5-2. For the Bronze medal, it was U.S., and Latvia, and Latvia, won 4-3 in overtime. Before the Stanley Cup Playoffs started, and for the Stanley Cup Final, I didn't see it between Vegas, and Florida, and a lot of other people didn't, too. I haven't wanted either one of them win it. Rhyta
Not the teams I wanted in the Final but the winner will get a Stanley Cup for the first time. Hope Vegas smacks Florida down, will the refs blow crucial calls (of course) and will Biz Nasty get his head shaved again? Tune in to find out Saturday Edited May 30 by Rhyta

I want the Panthers to win, not only because they're in the East, but also, I'd like to think Dale Tallon is partly responsible for this team's success, granted he had nothing to do with Tkachuk's arrival.

Yes, I think my biggest beef was with DeBoer and his treatment of Fleury. That made it easy for me to see Dallas go down. Have learned a bit about Cassidy and think he is a good coach, been watching the Quest for the Cup series on ESPN+ and like some of things he said and just his demeanor with the players. I agree that Tallon helped bring talent to Florida and it would be nice for him to get some credit for their success. I just hope that if Florida wins, the refs don't try to help them so much. I love cheering for the underdog and now Vegas is the underdog, even with Florida being one as well. More sports reporters are picking Florida to win so I guess I just have to be contrary...

Rhyta
Anyone watching the Memorial Cup? I haven't ever followed it but the Quebec Remparts are coached by Patrick Roy. Have seen some clips and it looks pretty good. The Seattle Thunderbirds are taking part this year. Guess the last round robin game is today then they start the semis on the 2nd

blackhawkrush
2 hours ago, Rhyta said: There may be a loophole because underneath the name of the betting site, which was on the arms of the jerseys, there were the words 'Sports Bar'. Apparently, the firm also runs restaurants, and the Latvians can say that's what they were advertising, but who knows what kind of rules they have in Europe.
blackhawkrush
Those free shots to the head late in the third buried Panthers chances to get back in the game. Still, I think Florida has the advantage in net, Knights hold the D, and I'll give the forward edge to the DeSantis state. But overall, it'll come down to which team can better execute their system on the ice.

Heard about that. It was talked about a couple of years ago he had a nagging issue but hadn't decided to have surgery. Guess he decided to go ahead since there is speculation he will be leaving NY. Hope it helps him feel better so he can play for a few more years.
