goose
I never saw VH, but I saw both Sammy and Dave live. Sammy's Can't Drive 55 show was way better than Dave's Eat Em and Smile...in Spokane anyway.

zepphead
Sadly I never got to see them. I had to pass up on Castle Donington in '84, as unfortunately in the '80s, life was getting in the way big time!I missed a lot of good stuff in the '80s. custom55
1984 tour 5150 tour - front row !!! F*CK tour Summer tour 2004 - awful show. Not sure if it was the venue, sound people, the band or all of the above. Too loud and very distorted. I heard Eddie was having issues that tour. 2007 tour A Different Kind of Truth tour 2012 NA tour 2015The 1984 and 5150 tours were my favorites Edited October 13, 2020 by custom55

chemistry1973
1988 - Hartford Civic Center - Awesome, life changing show - It was LOUD. SO exciting. My dad took me and my friends. Pops HATED the show, but loved the drum solo. Me too! 1991 - Hartford Civic Center - Rockin'. Alice in Chains on the bill. 2007 - Staples Center - Terrible. Very disappointing. It wasn't just Roth. The stage looked cheap. Not much of light show. Kinda blah performance. 2015 - Hollywood Bowl - Awesome - totally fun. Big money into stage production this time. Roth was a blast. They re-found their groove. Happened to be the last show they would ever play.
Derek19
I've seen Van Halen live in person two times. The first time was on their For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour in Vancouver, at B.C. Place on Nov. 13, 1991, and the second time was on their Balance "Ambulance" Tour in Vancouver, at Pacific Coliseum on Sept. 15, 1995. When I lived in Brampton/Bramalea, ON., on their 1984 Tour, I didn't see them, but on Apr. 17, 1984, I was in Toronto, at Maple Leaf Gardens, and I listened to them perform. I haven't had a favorite setlist. Edited October 14, 2020 by Derek19

I seem to remember a lyric in a song on his 1980 album Danger Zone saying "I don't care about 1985!" Was he talking about his future hook-up with Van Halen??
