The Analog Cub
From what I've heard of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard so far - still picking my way through their huge discography These are EXCELLENT: 1. Nonagon Infinity 2. Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava 3. PetroDragonic Apocalypse 4. Flying Microtonal Banana 5. Polygondwanaland 6. Omnium Gatherum These are a mixed bag but the highs are incredibly high: 7. Infest The Rats' Nest 8. I'm In Your Mind Fuzz 9. Changes 10. Laminated Denim 11. Gumboot Soup 12. Quarters! I'm having a hard time finding much from these: 13. Fishing For Fishies - a couple decent ones that probably work great live but I'm not digging the vibe 14. Float Along - Fill Your Lungs - way, way too psychedelic and 60s flavored. I get that sounding like everything's coming out of a blown amp is part of their schtick but it's too much 15. Oddments - psychedelic indie mess 16. Made In Timeland - ambient industrial weirdness There's still 8 more albums I've yet to uncover, a couple of which are spoken-word type that I'm a little apprehensive for. Excited about the other microtonal ones. I wish I jumped on this train years ago, it's hard to know where they'll go next.
The Analog Cub
Tesseract after binging the new album 1. War of Being It's perfect. Insane vocal diversity where the screams actually work and don't just hurt my ears, alongside some massive melodic and emotional range. Drums are on fire, bass is on fire, riffs and ambience are perfect. 2. Sonder If anything, it's too short. Great album. Luminary is a neat "here's what a radio single would sound like from a djent group" lol 3. Altered State Ashe O'Hara sounds like a whiney vocalist from a Midwestern emo band's 2008 demo. The songs are pretty great, though. If Dan Tompkins re-recorded the vocals it'd be even better. 4. One Beats out Polaris because Concealing Fate exists. What a monster of a suite. The rest of the album is nothing to write home about and has too much screaming for the sake of screaming. 5. Polaris Some songs are decent to good, some are absolute duds. Nothing on this album is what I'd call great, and because One has Concealing Fate, this album loses.
Entre_Perpetuo
Gonna try updated Paramore now that I’m far out from the latest album. 1. Brand New Eyes 2. After Laughter 3. This Is Why 4. Riot! 5. Paramore 6. All We Know Is Falling I think I have to admit to myself BNE just resonates with me in a very specific way I doubt anything else will. I love all of the other records, especially the latest two (total sonic reinventions with killer hooks and extra earnest lyrics), but BNE sits nicely atop the stack.
Entre_Perpetuo
Why don’t I try Fall Out Boy for similar reasons? 1. From Under The Cork Tree 2. Infinity On High 3. So Much (For) Stardust 4. Save Rock And Roll 5. Folie A Deux 6. Take This To Your Grave 7. American Beauty / American Psycho Dead last forever: Mania Edited September 18 by Entre_Perpetuo

Brand New Eyes always felt like their best to me. I play that the most, even though I'm a bigger fan than some of the self titled. BNE just has serious rock energy and the songwriting is so tight. Not a weak moment. Bonus track Decode is a modern classic too, in my opinion.
bluefox4000
Porcupine Tree 1. Fear of A BLank Planet 2. Deadwing 3. In Absentia 4. Stupid Dream 5. CLOSURE/CONTINUATION 6. Lightbulb Sun 7. The Incident 8. Signify 9. The Sky Moves Sideways 10. Up the Downstair 11. On the Sunday of Life As you can seee i'm not huge on the first 4 albums of this band. The floyd-y Spacy stuff is fine but i prefer when they went for more structured songs but kept elements of the dreamy, prog-y side. And Fear of a Blank planet has become my fav. I think it's their most complete album. Maybe the most Complete statement Wilson ever made.....solo work included. IMO. the recent one still holds up too BUT i miss Colin on Bass a TON. Union 5-3992
Screw it, might as well rank Steven on his own before the new album next week. This one was really hard. Hand Cannot Erase The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories) iNSURGENTES Grace for Drowning The Future Bites To the Bone Even harder mode would be ranking all of his studio albums

bluefox4000
Steven Wilson 1. Hand Cannot Erase 2. The Raven that Refused to Sing 3. iNSURGENTES 4. Grace For Drowning 5. To the Bone. 6. The Future Bites. couple Things. I really don't think To the bone is as bad as folks think. i really enjoy it but it had to go somewhere. First time i played The Future bites since release. Didn't like it then. Don't now. but the first 4. all great IMO. Mick
Entre_Perpetuo
Two of my favorite younger bands hit the album 4 mark today, which I feel is an acceptable number for a ranking, so I’ll do them both. White Reaper 1. World’s Greatest American Band (Beyond the effortlessly cool and well done revivalist style of this record, it has the best hooks and most impactful songwriting imo) 2. You Deserve Love (This one is a bit closer to the heart lyrical and melodically, and treads still very cool but more radio ready waters stylistically) 3. Asking For A Ride (Stylistically throwing everything into a rusty old blender, but the efficient songs and sticky melodies keep it from feeling disjointed) 4. Does It Again (garagey pop punk fueled by candy coated keyboard riffs and the catchiest screaming this side of the punk/metal divide, ironically their longest album at 34 minutes) MisterWives 1. Connect The Dots (This record wants to be your best friend) 2. Superbloom (An emotional rollercoaster detailing every stage from initial heartbreak and despair through finding new love and loving yourself) 3. Our Own House (lovely blend of ska, disco, and rock, with a great balance of ballads and bangers, would probably sit last for a couple tracks I’m not over the moon for, but it has too much sentimental value) 4. Nosebleeds (I hate sticking the new one last, especially after seeing them play nearly every song here live last week and knowing how incredibly this all works in front of an audience, but there’s just too much competition and I haven’t built up the emotional value of this one to the same extent yet)

Thought it was fantastic but the more I listen the more wonderful it is. I will say I think Integrity Blues has the higher highs, but Surviving is far more consistent. bluefox4000
I want to Do muse again. Because EP will be happy to know they're kinda weirdly becoming a fav. they did like a little stealthy ninja sneak up on me this time. So......here's an update. 1. Black Holes & Revelations 2. Drones. 3. The 2nd Law 4. Absolution 5. Origin of Symmetry 6. The Resistance 7. Simulation Theory 8. The Showbiz 9. Will Of The People. So the big development here is how far 2nd Law climbed. that album is ABSURD in the best way. so even though i think Absolution is a better album. i have more fun with 2nd Law so it wins. Drones is fantastic and muse should be proud as hell of it. BRING. BACK. MUTT. LANGE!!!!!! I never connected much with the Resistance and i don't know why. Still don't really. As for the best and worst. Black holes was always and will remain my fav. and WOTP. sorry EP.......muse on autopilot. i watched a 2023 concert yesterday. Fun show but even live those WOTP songs were the low points. But......I LOVE MUSE FULLY NOW!!!!! Mick

Alex’s Amazing Arpeggios
My turn 🙂 My Muse rankings are … 1. Black Holes & Revelations ⭐️(perfection) 2T : Origin Of Symmetry (break through !! ) 2T : Drones ( best ‘ recent ‘ album ) 4. Absolution 5. The Resistance 6. The 2nd Law ( interesting electic effort ) 7. Will Of The People ( i quite like it ! ) 8. Simulation Theory ( not enough 🎸🎸) 9. Showbiz ( too similar to Radiohead/alternative IMO) … interesting that over the past few years they’ve dropped all material it from their live set.
