I know Maiden can still write well and they have some great stuff after "Seventh Son" I am just saying that after "Seventh Son" it truly is hit or miss.

I think every Maiden song from the self titled to "Seventh" is PERFECT.

I agree that 7th son of a 7th son is the last great Iron Maiden album. I don't agree that Maiden had 7 great albums in a row however.

For me there first couple of albums were ok at best - definitely not special. # of the Beast was good but not great. Peace of Mind starts incredible - side one is the single best album side on any Maiden album. But side 2 does not do a great deal for me. One great song but the rest is, to be honest, stuff I don't both to listen to.

Then Maiden had a run of 3 consecutive great albums. There work since then has been consistently good, with some great songs, but no albums that equal any of those 3 albums.

That being said, my favorite Maiden song is Paschendale and its from the post 7th son period.

Paschendale is great indeed, and a true example of why Adrian should never have left the band. He tried to get his A.S.A.P. band going but they never took off, and his other band Psycho Motel, while great, didn't get commercial success.

Nicko is in a different league than Burr.

I consider Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son their greater masterpiece ever! #1!

It's my favorite Iron Maiden title track and album. :haz:

Maiden have done some better albums than 7th Son in their latter years but I agree with Lucas the Burr era was the pinnacle.

In fact I preferred them with DiAnno. Heresy I know.

As good a singer as he is, Bruce is a bit of a t**t on the quiet.

I totally agree Black Tiger. Nothing touches the first two Maiden records. Burr > Nicko. The "Dick"inson Era peaked at "Seventh Son" for me.

Debut and Killers were both masterpieces. :haz:

From the Bruce-era maybe Powerslave or Somewhere In Time.

I love Nicko, but Burr was the MAN.

Seventh Son is the main one I have NOT heard.

When I was into Maiden as a teen, I got off the bus after Live After Death. I don't know why. Hell, I was AT one of those shows!!

But it happens... I liked Wasted Years, but not enough to buy Somewhere in Time. Guess I was into other music at the time.

In fact, I hadn't heard the entirety of Somewhere in Time until a few MONTHS ago! And Seventh Son is next on my list.

Other than the "singles" (Evil, Madness) ... I dig those, but I need to hear the rest.

The only other Maiden album I have heard since '86 is Final Frontier, which I really like.

Slipperman! GET IT!

I'm on it like a bad suit. Looking for an original CD pressing :) :)

Caught them twice this tour. Stellar. TBOS stuff rocks.

Anyone expecting a greatest hits night should stay at home.

I really dig Book of Souls. Best album since Numbers, IMO.

Listened to Brave New World today. It's a good album, but like someone else pointed out in this thread, way too long, like all other albums since Bruce and Adrian came back. Maiden used to be able to send their message across with eight songs per album, and 45-60 minutes worth of music...
