Strangely, as important as guitar is to rock I don't really have many worship-worthy guitarists.

This guy is one. Skills up the wazoo and seems really nice and down to earth.

Yea, he's definitely one of my top 3.. along with Gilmour and probably Page.

Gilmour is my 2nd favorite.

Yes he most definitely is..I have always admired emotion, expressiveness, tone, and songwriting over wanky shredding.

For the same reasons I also love Ty Tabor and Leslie West

He is my favorite rock guitarist yes. I know other guitarist can shred as they say. But to me the faster the notes the less their value. What I love about his playing is he seemed to circumnavigate the fret wars of the 1980s with just a few well crafted riffs. He retained his " street cred " and then went on to play a totally different style. That took a lot of guts. It would of been so easy for him because he did have the chops to play flashy but he tried to stay away from that I think.

There are others I appreciate from fourth place on, but I'm not sure how to order their names according to the list. I appreciate so many guitarrists.

Eric Johnson is great. I'm happy someone reminded him.

After Lifeson I appreciate:

- "The Steves": Vai, Rothery, Hackett, Howe.

- David Gilmour, Robert Fripp, Steven Wilson, Eric Johnson.

- Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Chris Robinson, Rik Emmett.

- Terry Brooks, Daniel Ash and Jerry Cantrell.

In no particular order. Just to mention few.

I said yes but it's tough. Big influences were Iommi, Clapton, and Rhoads. Lifeson never influenced my playing really. As far as faves go he's way up there for sure. Also love page, felder, gilmour, deleo, Cantrell.

I'm just the opposite- Lifeson is such a huge influence on my playing I don't even sound like me.
