So the main characters appear in 6 different roles and all of them are connected to each other over centuries of time. This film is huge, very ambitious, a slap in the head and a feast for the imagination. :smoke:

There are 6 stories placed across different centuries. (Pacific Island 1849 - Cambridge/Edinburgh 1936 - San Francisco 1973 - London 2012 - Neo Seoul 2144 - Big Isle, 106 winters after the fall 2321). So the main characters appear in 6 different roles and all of them are connected to each other over centuries of time. Great acting from Halle Berry (6 roles), Susan Sarandon (4 roles), Tom Hanks (6 roles), Hugh Grant (6 roles), Jim Sturgess (6 roles)... and many more.

Not for everyone, but I love it!

I remember when it came out, my school was offering a free screening of it at our school's theater. I never read the novel, but I went with friends who read it prior so I came to it with an open mind. For what it was worth, I thought it was a magnificent feat of accomplishment and ambition and quite a risky film. It definitely tested my mental workout considering it's a series of stories that connect as one somehow. I thought the cast did a great job of shuffling between playing different roles in the stories which could've fell flat within the casting department but works really well here.

 

Definitely a polarizing film, but like you, I'm in the camp that enjoyed it.

Definitely a film that leaves the viewer bewildered. I had to watch it 4 times to figure out all the connections and to observe all those little side stories. What I really like about it, is that everytime I watch it again, I find something new. Often just nuances that seemed not to be there the last time I saw it.
