  1. CBS news report on pitcher Randy Johnson showed a pic of Geddy Lee while discussing his photography hobby. Cool Beans! No link but it was a pic of Ged jumping . Randy is being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
  2. I remember hearing NWM on the radio as the first single released from Signals . I remember thinking to myself " I hope there are better songs on that album" Luckily there were. Otherwise my foray into Rush fandom may of ended as soon as it started. I don't hate NWM it is just not a strong song. As is Vital Signs. I love Al's playing in VS but I wouldn't bet a whole album on that type of song.
  3. Basically todays keyboards can load digital samples of vintage synthesizers and play them . In the 1980s and the early 1990s you couldn't get the same sounds on a Oberheim OB-8 as you could on a Fairlight CMI or Wave PPG.Now the Roland Fantom X7 he uses is a monster workstation and actually has a 16 track recording studio on it with onboard effects. He uses the new minimoog also for solos thats the smaller one on top. With todays technology all Rush has to do is load samples of the fills Geddy used to be tasked with playing live and assign them to a certain key or bass pedal or even drum pad. I wouldn't be surprised just as a back up if there isn't a laptop or two offstage . But the Roland is a beast and has good reliability. Unlike the analogue equipment of the 1980s .
  4. It was a pretty bad movie allthough I did like t....oh the RUsh song Xanadu

  12. OH yah that is a classic clip! Spammy almost throws up trying to drink that JD. Then says " If I didn't know any better I would swear someone pissed in that bottle" I'm happy to say I didn't buy a VH album again until the Karnal one .

    Why Rush

You guys remember these things?http://3.bp.blogspot...Electronics.jpg OH man I remember those ! I got to get me some . Were they called light organs or something like that.
  17. I love MP I love Witch Hunt I love love love love love vital signs I love signals I love synthesizers and while I am at it The Big Money is Rush's pinnacle. :codger: I have had a few minutes to think about this and I am going to say Leave that thing alone may also be their pinnacle. Maybe combine TBM and LTTA . and a ham sammich.

  19. Should I take my Tomato plants in?
  20. I went through a sudden loss in 1996 at a similar time NEP did. I remember thinking I should write him a letter explaining how I coulld relate to his situation . And how my faith got me through it . I am glad I didn't now . It wouldn't of fared well with his beliefs. Sure I had been a fan for over a decade and here is the shocker , I didn't pay that much attention to the lyrics or was smart enough to realize his stance on religion. Truth is I just listen to the great music . The lyrics are a extra fun aspect also but I never took the time think them through.Neil got from us what he wanted and we go what we wanted .
  21. We just got finished reading Anthem in school when I realized she was I believe listed on inside cover of 2112. It struck me when I realized it but I am afraid I'm not a big reader or deep thinker. I can't tell you today what her philosophies are .

    Signals

Signals was the first studio album after I became a fan. I love it . Even to this day. I can imagine it was a let down people who were fans from day one or at least since the epics . But to me it was the perfect album at the perfect moment. I was even a little taken aback expecting a more guitar oriented sound . But after listening to side one I was sold. It was also my first rock concert also .
