  1. A partial outcome of Climate Hysteria. Which like COVID is more about people in positions of authority accumulating power and money. Following the science has become a punchline. The time is now. Being a war time president or prime minister isn’t just a splashy title. Hey, my buddy got gas at the same Costco today. $4.62. Up 40 cents in a day. :cheerleader: Prices are based on future perception, not current supply. So what I do during rapid price increases is not to fill my tank, but maybe 3-4 gallons short of full. Now if enough people would follow this, it would create a temporary dent in supply. This would work for most people that don't drive extreme miles...not so good for high mileage drivers. Unfortunately, the majority of the populace would rather just top off their tank and bitch about it.
  2. Seeing that Shell purchased Russian oil because they got a good deal. Welp...guess I'm no longer a faithful customer of Shell. Also, Marathon was the leading purchaser of Russian oil last year. Guess they're on my shitlist as well along with it's subsidiaries Citgo and Speedway. Looking like BP is the one I can go to for non-Russian oil. You call it cancel culture. I call it freewill in spending my money on corporations that don't deal with the pinhead Hitler in Moscow.
  3. Hey y'all, long time no bitching. Subject: Hiring and retaining qualified employees...how not to do it. So I work for local government. Past couple of years my wage scale, which is preset for everyone, topped out and reached it's max. So no auto-raise or COLA adjustments. Raises were shit anyway, so I didn't worry about it. Today I get an email from HR stating that I was off of 'red line' (where they mark you as frozen) for whatever reason and now my hourly pay will be adjusted to the new scale. So I got a raise of 12 cents per hour. Not even 4 bucks a week after taxes. For 9 years of loyalty. If this wasn't automatic I would have told them, ya know...just don't bother. Just keep it and at least I won't feel insulted. Maybe if I want a real raise I'll panhandle on the corner during lunch hour. I thought about spreading the wealth and sending HR 3 donuts a week, in a big box, for their staff of 10. Reminds me of working at Long John Silvers as a cook during college in the early 80s. Worst job ever. Min wage of $3.35 an hour. But if you took on extra duties, they would pay an extra 5 cents an hour for each duty. Manager tried promoting this to me and I told him....naa, not worth it to me. At that rate I could have worked up to $4.25 an hour and be an asst manager! whoopy f***ing dooo! The ironic thing is, that 5 cent raise at LJS is a larger % raise than the 12 cent raise they gave me. They really know how to motivate a fella. Next year I'll work hard and maybe double my 12 cent raise! A normal person would just quit, but that's it...I'm definitely retiring next year after my anniversary date.
  4. 76. Introduction - Chicago Transit Authority (6:35) *cough* ELP *cough*
  5. Hey Lorraine, So sorry to hear of your condition. Since I don't get on here much these days I wanted to wish you the best and let you know you are loved by myself and everyone on the forum.
  6. Good comparison and tough to pick since they started about the same time. Let's break this down by the pieces. Vocal - Sting Vs Bono - there's not enough coin flips to decide which insufferable dick to choose. Tie. Guitar - Andy vs Edge - Andy is very accomplished and more interesting to listen to. Edge is pretty much a one-trick pony. Andy. Bass - Sting vs what's his name?, oh yeah Adam - Give this one to Stink because Adam is non-descript. Drums - Stewart vs Larry - come on man not even close - Stewart. U2 had a much longer active career...but does anyone care about them since the 90s? Best band goes to The Police. Best singer - not choosing a favorite egomaniac but coin flip says Bono. ugh. Best Album - I like the first 3 Police Albums, same with U2. But The Unforgettable Fire is highly underrated IMO and an interesting left turn for U2, so that's the one.
  7. But there's alot of subliminal ideas going on with Rush material that could imply 'the deed'. Maybe make a playlist of some of these and she might catch on. Stick It Out A Passage to Bangkok Beneath, Between, Behind Hoping that doesn't lead to 'Cold Fire'
  8. It's all overplayed, which is why i never listen to the radio. I prefer the solitude to enjoy the conversation with my other personalities. radio airplay is only intended to keep your attention long enough to hear their commercials.
  9. I guarantee you that I can throw a club further than Alex. That's the whole point of the game isn't it?
  10. The founders of Heritage sold to a real estate development company called Plaza Corp a couple of years ago. The founders originally worked for Gibson and were at the point of retiring. Plaza Corp did some renovations in the plant and continued to manufacture Heritage. But I find it hard to believe that they plan to keep a manufacturing plant and a hotel within the same site. Plaza Corp has bought up all the real estate in Kalamazoo and turns them into brew pubs and overpriced condos. The local joke is they want to rename the town Plazamazoo. Plaza has no interest in keeping Heritage going as an entity...they just wanted another site for a brewpub. I sit in my new office and see the latest Plaza bastard child building that just opened as a hotel. f***ers took our parking lot. Occupancy looks realllllly light since they opened.
  11. Local news today that the original Kalamazoo Gibson plant is being bastardized into another Hard Rock tourist trap. https://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/2021/03/hard-rock-brand-hotel-coming-to-kalamazoos-historical-gibson-guitar-manufacturing-site.html This plant currently houses Heritage Guitar, but that's likely going away. What's really amusing is that this plant is in the worst part of town and not on any major street. Instead of letting the old building die a graceful death, let's whore out it's history for all it's worth. This is the birthplace of Alex's classic white 355 he got in the 70s.
  12. Hold Your Nose Presticle Roll the Boner As I remember during this time, I would still buy the albums, play them a few times and toss them into the pile never to be seen again.
  13. I thought this was a RIP thread. Damn it. :rage:
  14. ok, latest vax distribution rant from me. So my 89 year old mother in law finally got her first vax today. This was done in a former Pfizer office building right across the Pfizer plant where the vax is made. Biden just made a visit there on Friday. So every logical bone in your body says she gets the Pfizer vax right? Nope she got Moderna. :wtf: I get my second on Tuesday. The first was Pfizer. The 2nd needs to be Pfizer or I will do some serious questioning about mixing manufacturers.
  15. Death...the only thing that will finally shut him up. Any questions on where I stand?
  16. I've come up with a new texting acronym that I use on my adult children and other younger people. This is at the end of the texting conversation. NGCYR Now Go Clean Your Room.
  17. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: That sounds like awful news! Didn't you guys just move there a year or two ago? Moving is such a chore and especially with your husband being ill. I'm really sorry to hear this and I hope the son that wants to build breaks a leg or something. I don't suppose the landlord would want to look into getting a zoning variance to allow you to be on a corner of the property or something? Or could you spread the word at church about looking for housing? My prayers will be with you sweetie. :hug2: :hug2: one house per 5 acres? 5 acres would be plenty of space for 6-7 houses where I live. sounds excessive to me.
  18. OK. We weren't gonna listen to anything they said anyway.... Why even ask for them, then? So that if the request was denied they could complain they were denied the ability to call witnesses? The vote to allow witnesses was 54-46 in favor, which was not a good sign. Some Republican senators who were seen as possible votes for conviction voted against allowing witnesses. The Impeachment managers were then informed that Republican senators were ready to vote and go home for the weekend. Less than two hours after the witness vote, the Impeachment managers told the Senate that they had no further motions. Three hours later, the acquittal was done. The Impeachment managers simply threw in the towel, IMO. The verdict was fully cooked before the trial. This was a process of padding stats after the outcome of the game was determined. From a political standpoint, both sides got what they could reasonably accomplish. The loser is the constitution, since we've now determined that impeachment is impossible if both parties are intrenched. Now I wonder at what point does the GOP splinter off into two parties, the Trumper Party of crazies and the 'Lincoln Party' of the former rational country club GOP.
  19. That's awesome. Here it is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ7o518UrCI It's actually a blend of the two names, "Ben Raffensberger", but still funny. Is Brad there? No dipshit, this is Ben...
  20. Songs like Half the World would still suck. When the song is formulated as verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, solo, chorus it's really not meant to be just an instrumental.
  21. I always think of him as being younger. A true talent. RIP.
