True, there had been known audio problems previously but I doubt that was the case, it took money and more modern technology but I think they fixed the whole thing. To me it seems pretty clear that they cherry picked all the songs that didn’t previously have live video releases plus a few more. The released songs are from throughout the show so the odds seem remote that any audio defects would only have been limited to songs we already have versions of and just happened to skip Nobody’s Hero and all the TFE songs and all of 2112, etc. It’s more likely that it was a partial on purpose. Especially when even the songs they did release weren’t on all versions, you had to get the completist version for three of them. The pattern has been there with several. We got part of the AFTK show and the whole thing much later. We got part of the R30 concert and the whole thing much later. The 1974 and 1976 shows were released a couple songs at a time and the whole thing much later. They also only released half of the Presto show, which also just happened to have all the Presto songs that weren’t available anywhere else. I think it’s obviously intentional spacing it out.3 points

I would imagine they probably retain some veto or final approval power when approached by the new owners, but I can’t imagine they have any creative or initiative input whatsoever. In other words, there’s no chance Geddy and Alex will ever say “Hey guys, next we want you to put together a package featuring this tour” (or era or whatever). And I seriously doubt they know about what’s in the “vault” more than anyone else. And I’m sure they don’t really care. Most bands’ members don’t live in the past like the fans do.2 points

Worked from home for part of the day. Took dad to his last physical therapy session at the VA for his knees in the PM (now we just have to start on his shoulders) but this gave me a chance to dive into my vinyl again. First out of the box: CCR - The Royal Albert Hall Concert Live CCR recorded in April of 1970. Good stuff. Next out of the box: Godspell - Soundtrack to the rock musical The soundtrack from a rock musical which was based on the Gospel according to Matthew. According to the liner notes it won the Grammy Award as the best musical of the year. It was copyrighted in 1972 and I believe my older sister brought this home and then left it when she went away to college. I remember listening to it a ton as a kid. So it likely dates to 1971 or 1972. Some of it sounds like Broadway show tunes, some sounds like vaudville tunes. Its been about 7 or 8 years since I went to meeting (I am Quaker) and not very religious but this still hits the spot. Extremely enjoyable. Next out of the box: John Denver - Rocky Mountain High Another one my sister passed along to me. Title track is still excellent. Tunes like "Mother Natures Son", "Paradise", "For Baby (For Bobbie)" and the anti Viet Nam war "Prisoners" are all very good as well. "Season Suite" is ambitious and decent as well. Good album. Next out of the box: Heart - Bad Animals This starts with "Who Will You Run To", "Alone" & "There's The Girl" which are all strong. But the rest of the album is just filler (IMO). Last out of the box: The Outfield - Play Deep This starts with "Say It Isn't So" & "Your Love" both of which are strong. The rest is filler but it was high quality filler. Much better then I remembered and frankly I may go back and listen to it again. It was almost enjoyable filler. Much, much better quality then the filler on the Heart album (notwithstanding the excellent Anne Wilson vocals). Best studio album of the day? Hmmm, honestly, Godspell. Followed by Rocky Mountain High. Bad Animals & Play Deep are sort of tied. Hearts 3 strong songs are one more strong song then The Outfield had and their 3 songs were slightly better then The Outfields songs. But Play Deep is just a deeper and more rounded album. So I guess I will change my answer and say The Outfield edges out Heart. Overall an enjoyable day musically.2 points

I added that Grimm Winter album to my library. I’ll have to check it out. I love the other two. I recently got TBS’ Where You Want To Be on vinyl, so now I have the first three, plus their newest album1 point

I agree with that in a broad sense. I was just passing along the theory (which maybe is more of an aphorism than a theory) I'd heard, though I couldn't find who it was attributed to.1 point
