  1. I have never found "traditionally" handsome men very attractive. I mean, I can look at a guy and think "now, that's a good looking man," but that's typically where the inner dialog stops. To me, whether or not a man is attractive encompasses more than just their looks. It's their personality, their character, their sense of humor...the whole package. Someone said here that they thought that if you took 100 women and showed them a picture of Geddy without them knowing who he is that at least 85 of them would not think he was attractive. Well, I would be one of the 15 who did because I saw the music video for Nobody's Hero before I knew much about Rush and I thought that Geddy was totally gorgeous. But, I REALLY became attracted to him as I learned about him and found out that, not only is he an amazing musician he's also a pretty swell guy. It's also been my experience that men tend to think of themselves as more attractive (at least physically speaking) than they actually are and women are just the opposite. So I don't set much store in how a person perceives themselves. So, pictures or keep yer mouth shut! :P :madra: :madra: :madra: :madra: Oh, Your_Lion...I think you are very easy on the eyes. Yes, that is me with Geddy in my profile picture.

  2. Great use of Goodbye Stranger and Logical Song in Magnolia. PT Anderson movies have awesome soundtracks.

  5. I'd been waiting to see my first Dream Theater show for two years and they TOTALLY exceeded my expectations. Saw them yesterday in NYC. I'd say out of all the concerts I've seen, the DT show is now probably one of my top 5 best concerts I've seen period. Got to the venue around 4:30 and was surprised but not surprised by the decent amount of fans waiting in line. Met a bunch of nice people in line and we were talking about music we like in general. Was very awesome of them to give recommendations of albums/bands I don't listen to or haven't really listened to much (Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, etc.). Anyways, the show itself was probably the quickest 3 hours of my life. The crowd was definitely the most energetic, passionate, and loudest I've been part of. It had "SO ENERGY POWAH!". Never expected to enjoy the crowd singing along to every song and loudly. The set itself now that I've watched it in person flowed extremely well, especially from the second set onwards. A surprise for me was On The Backs of Angels which was an okay song to me, but live it was WAY better and I think the crowd attributed to that. Trial of Tears, Lifting Shadows Off A Dream, Space Dye Vest, Illumination Theory and Strange Déjà Vu were my favorite songs that night. Strange Déjà Vu (and also Overture 1928) because it was the song that instantly made me become a fan. Several funny moments occurred at the show. The first one being the hilarious intermission video with all the compilation of Dream Theater parody videos (Adam02's YouTube parodies made it onto the compilation!), covers, and of course the infamous John Petrucci/James Labrie blooper laughing reel. During Lie, James forgot a line to which he then said "I f***ed up!" and then when introducing Lifting Shadows Off A Dream, he made a brief mention of Jordan's brief time with the band 20 years ago and then proceeded to make fun of him for not joining the band at the time. Finally during Dancing Of Eternity, me and a couple of fans who I befriended in the line danced stupidly during Jordan's piano bit. Overall, the show had laughs, a bunch of epic moments, and most importantly the band enjoyed being on stage and feeling the energy of the Manhattan crowd. Can't wait for the next time they come to NYC.

  6. There's a reason why this thread is posted in the "New World Women" area. :eyeroll: Besides, no one asked you. Go be an insecure dick elsewhere.

  7. The words "sexy" and "Geddy" should never be used in the same sentence, paragraph, subject, et al.

  13. It would seem that there would be a good joke there using the phrase "assholes who were good in bed" but I haven't come up with anything yet, and I wouldn't be stupid enough to say it even if I did.... :) I pondered this one myself and came to a similar conclusion... :outtahere:

  15. I saw REM open up for The Police at the Capital Centre (outside DC, Narp knows it), on the Synchronicity tour. Hadn't heard of them before that but got a copy of Murmur and became a big fan. The albums that followed -- Reckoning, Fables of the Reconstruction, Life's Rich Pageant, etc. -- are classics. It's easy to forget today how good they were then.

  22. I don't think everyone in the crowd enjoys it. I think it bores the bejesus out of the casuals. Even when I'm up close to the band, he gets people politely looking on. I'm not saying that people don't love it, but it gets less of a reaction during the song than virtually anything else they do. And while the bathrooms and bear lines don't go crazy, they seem busier during the solo than during anything that isn't Territories. What's a bear line. Like Teddy Bears? Or are you talking about the one time they toured and had a "get your picture taken with a real Canadian bear" kiosk? Oh the humanity.... You are SUCH an INTJ.... I am not - I took the test 3 times and got the same thing! I forget which... whichever one is Leia ENTJ...like me! Supposedly, we like bears. A lot.

  23. Amen to that! And living in Delaware, that also puts me in the right place at the right time to catch many great Krush performances. I envision myself with a front row seat for Krush at the sold out Bob in about 4-5 years from now. :haz: Years? Haha You're the best EMS!

  32. The real question is... where did the Blues come from? And then where did that come from... and the one before that? Does it go back to that guy finding an ancient guitar in a cave?

  33. Of course modern music originated from the blues. How else did it start?

  34. Here's where we get into the "overrated" vs. "I don't particularly care for them" issue. You can say he's not your favorite, but I don't think it's fair to suggest that his impact on rock guitar playing can be overstated. As one of those guys bathory refers to above (and, incidentally, the 1984 tour WAS amazing :)) I can remember when no one sounded like Eddie (before the album Van Halen came out) and when EVERYONE sounded like Eddie (from about 1980-1988). You be the judge if that's a coincidence. therein lies why I've always disliked words like "overrated" and "underrated," they're rarely used correctly. hendrix, page, evh, etc, no matter what you're into they're not overrated.

  38. Also, yes, Geddy is my bass playing god. I'm not too big on his solo album minus the title track and Grace To Grace. I can't help but wonder where the other two guys are. After hearing 25 years of Rush music hearing Geddy's voice and bass on something completely different just throws me off a bit.

  40. Love listening to Supertramp. One of my favourite non-Rush concerts was Supertramp, Breakfast in America tour. A hot August evening in an outdoor stadium with mountains in the background behind the stage. From the haunting opening notes of School to the finale of Crime of the Century, a truly great show. Even years later I love to sit on the deck on a warm summer evening, drink in my hand, and Supertramp on the stereo.

  44. Another fantastic entry. Any "Hen of the Woods" fungus pics? Those are tasty too! http://i.imgur.com/aLmwzW4.png These? It's never crossed my mind to look for them. You eat some weird stuff! Magnificent edible. Easy to spot. Yeah it's "weird" if you don't live in the woods. Normal foraging fare for me. Pick 'em, clean 'em. Excellent fried or in soups. Great sautéed in butter served over alfredo and pasta. Fine, decadent eating. 8 morels today. Very dark caps.
