for some metal with clean vocals. All I've ever been recommended is Periphery and Coheed & Cambria

I've just picked up a couple bands that came up in another thread. They're both progressive metal with clean vocals. I've listened to the albums I got only once so far, but I like them.

Symphony X

Redemption (former Fates Warning singer, but I like this band better.)

Ray Alder still wih Fates fyi.

Two metal albums loom on the horizon for this guy: Iron Maiden's Book of Souls and Stryper's Fallen.

The last time Union made this request he got some good recos. Now that a few months have passed, does anyone have anything else to recommend?

Well, since you like Nightwish, have you ever given Within Temptation a listen?

I don't usually like music with female vocals (Nightwish is the exception) but those songs were pretty good! Thanks for posting them.

Most feminine and pretty of all the GREAT female fronted metal bands.

It is wonderful, I think, to find such a feminine woman embrace with such feminine majesty this genre of music. It is like Iron Maiden sacked Bruce Dickinson and asked Kate Bush to join, and write her own style of metal.

You beat me to it, J112YYZ...the new Anthrax song KICKS A$$!!!! Joey changed his singing style a bit, and the riffs are just mean! The production is crystal clear too, even considering that the source is YouTube. Looking forward to the new album.

Joey changed up his vocal style starting with the last album. He knew he had to be a more aggressive singer to fit the band today. The band continues to writes songs like John Bush was still the singer. I think deep down they would still prefer him in the band but having Joey back is the much better decision for them financially.

I really like the song. There's a darkness and anger to it I haven't heard from them in a while. It fits perfect with the subject manner of the song. Also, props to them for putting a little effort into the lyric video as that doesn't happen too often with a lot of bands.

Yeah damn I miss the old style but he still sounds great so wtfe. I didn't get Worship Music but I keep hearing it's very good. Never heard the John Bush albums eiher aside from the Greater of Two Evils album which kicked ass.

Worship Music is very good. The only issue is that the songs were written with John Bush as the singer in mind. The album actually would have been even better if he sang on it. Joey did a great job on it though. He found a more aggressive side to his voice that he hadn't used much before.

He seems to be doing that vocal style again for the new album. Only this time these songs were written for his voice so it has the potential to be better than Worship Music. I don't know about anyone else but there are parts in the new song that I get a Persistence Of Time vibe from.

It won't be out until next year.

2016 is shaping up to be another good year for metal. New albums from Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament and maybe Metallica.

Was unaware on the new testament coming. My body is ready.

They have been delivering , dark roots was awesome.

I have high hopes for the megadeth as well

Testament should have a new one out next year. They've been working on it for a while now. I thought it was gonna be out this year but they took a break and did a tour which put it on hold for a bit.

Their last two albums have been great and they've never released a bad album. So I have no doubt they'll deliver again.

Worship Music was written while Dan Nelson was in the band. Bush was going to come back, but he had an issue with recording once again songs that weren't written with him in the band, so he just did a few shows in '09 and '10 to help the guys out. Such a shame, because I much prefer his voice to Belladonna's. But he has two kids and doesn't want to do long tours anymore, so he's sticking with Armored Saint. He also has a business doing voiceovers for commercials - there's one on YouTube for Burger King - which he says it's rather profitable with zero stress.
