Not Far Cry

This makes me smile  [if true]

Wait, wait, wait...

You mostly just like Rush's heavier hard rock songs from what I can tell but you don't even like Far Cry? Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly.

Completely Not true . It does Not have to be heavy for me to like it. They have much better songs to open with. That's all

I would say no "FBN" only because it's way out of Geddy's vocal range now,

Its good to know they decided not to open with news feed from Fox Business Network! common001.gif  atickhum.gif

TSOR is the only thing that makes sense with the criteria he's throwing out.

Based on the qualifications I think it has to be either TS, TSOR, or Freewill.

They could easily be doing MP in its entirety first starting with TS, RB, YYZ and Limelight. What a great show starter.

Personally, I think it will be TSOR. It has more "essence of Rursh" than the others mentioned. Other than TS, does it have the most radio play?

I love Freewill, but think the solo is better in another part of the show....I wouldn't be ready for it first song!!

I believe Force Ten was a minor hit. It did get airplay in
the Midwest for a while.

i thought far cry would be a good opener but i guess it's not happening unless someone is stirring up the pot again.

That's cool, I know you don't care much for S&A which is fine but I figured you'd at least like Far Cry and a couple others on there. But I agree that not everything works well as an opener.

It won't be anything on MP. They would NEVER open the show with MP in it's entirety. My money is on MP being early in the second set with the possibility of a one song buffer to get people back to their seats.

It won't be CTTH or New World Man.

TSOR or Freewill. I'd prefer Freewill but it's probably TSOR.

QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 21 2010, 10:17 PM)
Since there's been a ton of speculation all over the board about this one:

Assuming they don't call an audible in rehearsals, the Opening Song is...

* A single song, not a medley or overture

* Not Far Cry

* A "hit"

A "hit"...to me, that means:

Spirit of Radio
Tom Sawyer
Limelight
YYZ
The Big Money
Closer to the Heart
Subdivisions

"Limelight" opened to last tour, so it's probably not that one...

"CTTH" starts too softly to open a show, IMO...

I don't think "Subdivisions" is the type of song they'd open a show with, but that's just my opinion. The beginning of this song isn't driving enough...

"The Big Money" is a dark horse. It has been and would again make a fine opener, and I suppose it can be considered a "hit," but IMO, Score Out is implying that it's a song that is one of the "must play" songs, and this one isn't in that category. They might not even play it...

"YYZ" is one of their most popular songs and would make a hell of an opener, but IF they're going to play Moving Pictures in order, that rules this song out as a show opener. Which leads us to...

"Tom Sawyer" is always a good opener, but they did that pretty recently on the Vapor Trails tour, so...

I therefore deduce that "Spirit of Radio" will open.  biggrin.gif

(Unless of course there's another "hit" that I'm not thinking of.)

2112

Didn't they open the MP tour with overture and finish with the finale?

I could see them doing something like that again.

See to me this makes sense. Working Man was their first real hit, AND it's off the 1st album. Which would probably be the first stop from the time machine going way back right?
