This is how I rank them based on how good each album sounds to me, after decades of listening in most cases. 2-5 is very close, that 4 album order is always changing, this is how I have it now.

1. Leftoverture

2. Masque

3. Point of Know Return

4. Song For America

5. Kansas

6. Vinyl Confessions

7. Power

8. Drastic Measures

9. The Prelude Implicit

10. Monolith

11. Audio-Visions

12. In the Spirit of Things

13. Somewhere to Elsewhere

14. Freaks of Nature

15. Always Never the Same

I can't rank the albums because I'm not familiar enough with their later stuff. The original lineup and their run of albums are in my top five of favorite bands.

Well just rank the ones up to 1980 or 1986 wherever you got up to.

Haven't heard all of their albums yet, but I'm pretty sure that I will extend the collection.

Where is Eagle Moon? She liked Kansas a lot, if I am remembering correctly. :hi:

I am like Big Bobby, I am only familiar with the early years.

1. Masque

2. Song For America

3. Point Of Know Return (especially when I first heard it)

4. Leftoverture

5. Kansas

treeduck, you might like the Kansas movie; it's a lot of interesting stories about their start. I think it's called Kansas: Miracles Out Of Nowhere.

I will try:

1. Leftoverture

2. Song For America

3. Kansas

4. Masque

5. Point Of Know Return

6. Drastic Measures

Where it gets iffy for me:

7. Audio-Visions

8. Monolith

9. Power

10. In The Spirit Of Things

Can't rank any after this. I am in desperate need of catching up with the last few Styx and Kansas albums. I didn't give either bands new release enough attention.

2. Leftoverture

3. Kansas

4. Masque

5. Monolith

6. Point of Know Return

7. Audio Visions.

The rest i don't need. the newer one is a nice little nod to the classics but hollow otherwise.

I think it's safe to say we have a consensus...after Point of No Return, it pretty much goes in the shitter. I'm down with that.

You have such a way with words, Hemi! :)

I just calls em as I sees them.

Sorry Pat! I'm with these guys! I too only love the first seven KANSAS records in a row! 1974-1980. After that? Hit or miss. Although I do like that they had Steve Morse of a few records.
