The Gush Over Rush Thread

I can see videos again as well.

This was the only site I had that problem.

I don't know what it was. All I know is that as soon as I updated Firefox to 48.0, I could suddenly see the videos on Opera as well as Firefox.

There is another forum I found that was having the same problem.

OK, here is one for Lorraine, to celebrate that she has video viewing back!

I thought I had R30, but I mustn't because none of these look familiar to me.

this is great. I love the close up of half of Neil's face and Geddy always makes me laugh - he gets so into what he's doing off into his own little world.

Hastings is going out of business and they're having a huge sale now. I ought to pop over there and see what Rush stuff I can get a good deal on.

Yes, these R30 videos are new to me also! They are great!

You probably have the original version of R30, which was missing several songs. The R40 box set re-release features the entire setlist.

Is this the one? http://www.ebay.com/...s&ul_noapp=true

If so, I better grab this. Looks like a superb deal money-wise.

Sorry to say, no it isn't. This is one of the bonus discs from the R40 box sex. Here's a listing for that disc that shows the contents:

http://www.ebay.com/...sd=252475559104

I don't think you can get the restored R30 disc separately from the whole boxed set.

Here are offers on Amazon for the box set at a discount price:

https://www.amazon.c...rds=r40 box set

These offers might NOT include the "Completist" disc you linked to above, I believe that disc was only included with box sets purchased at Best Buy or from the Backstage Club, although it appears from the listings on eBay that it also got some kind of individual release.

And yes, it is extremely annoying and confusing how the same product comes out in 90678 configurations!

I didn't realize the whole show wasn't on the original release. Dang, maybe I should buy another version.

I can't get over how great Geddy sounds singing Tom Sawyer and how great the sound is on this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BizmmRfP80&feature=player_detailpage

I've to get this dvd.

I think R30 and SnA Live were the best sounding of the modern era Rush concerts. I think GuP rules them all though.

It's true GuP is great, the this R30 has a clarity of sound that I don't hear on GuP.

I'm sure I posted this already but I just love it. It's one of the videos that brought me here, back in the day when I still had dial up and could actually download something from Youtube - I'd get five to seven seconds of footage a minute. Judge for yourself how long it took me to download the complete video.

Watch Alex (especially after 4:05)! Oh, there's nothing like being young and spry and agile! This is always the way I want to remember him!! i can never watch this without my eyes filling up.

I used to have a cassette of Montreal 1981, which I purchased at the LA Forum parking lot on the Presto tour (!!!).. it had a mix of songs from ESL video, ESL album, and additional songs from the Montreal show....I guess it was a radio broadcast (Superstar Concert Series). It had the above version of Limelight on it, which I always LOVED. I wish I still had that tape.

It's not one of the songs in the higher register of Geddy's voice, like some that became difficult later, but his voice still sounds so wonderful here. Really clear and melodic, and with a fullness without forcing it.   young Rush; where did the time go?

Yeah they really used to be active on stage. You kind of forget since they haven't been so much in the past couple of decades.

They played back then with such fluidity and ease. Or at least they made it look easy. And Ged sounds great.

I have the DVD but it has been awhile since I watched it last. I am the same way as you Lorraine, I am sitting here crying while I watch them. It is just so incredibly beautiful to me this morning.

Catherine, Alex was still hooked up to his amp (I guess that's what it was - I don't know for sure) back then so he couldn't hop far. But I've always loved watching him the most out of all three of them back then because he was the first to stop the on-stage activity and he had so much youthful energy back then. :codger:

Although I do have a bootleg video from somewhere around 1995 - and I think it was the same song (or maybe Tom Sawyer) - when he skated across the stage. I'll see if I can find it and post it here.

In typical Lorraine fashion, I got it wrong on all counts.

It wasn't the later nineties, it was 1990, and the songs weren't either Limelight or TS but Distant Early Warning. :eyeroll:

Be that as it may:), watch especially from 2:56 or so onward - Geddy doing his thing again up and down the neck of his bass, and Alex skating.

I think Rush went wireless around the Signals / GuP tour, so yea Al made the maximum use of that freedom - watch him on GuP up in Ged's grill during some of the songs. It is fun to watch. And Al always gets animated during his solo in La Villa. No matter what year, he just rips loose. On ASOH he actually gets a little ahead of Neil and Ged and for a moment it almost becomes a trainwreck! But I love watching him on that song. And then there are the La Villa rants ...

Geddy sounded great again! And congrats, Lorraine, on 34,000 posts!
