  1. 1. What makes someone a TrueRushFan™

    • You MUST have an appreciation, respect and enjoyment of 90% of the band's music/songs. That 90% must come from all three eras. The Golden BROON Era, The Synth Era and the Modern Era.

    • With exceptions for Millennials and EXTREME hardship you MUST have attended three live shows. Getting married and have two crumb crunchers is NOT HARDSHIP.

    • YOU MUST LEGALLY own 90% of the band's music/songs. Format doesn't matter.

- 90% is a lot and is arbitrary (I actually calculated and found my number at 77% due to the stuff from '91 onwards dragging the entire catalog % down)

90% has a rich history at TRF.

Test for Echo was like being fed Liver and Onions.

I did, however acquire a taste for TFE. Never could gut the liver, though.

You may be a TrueRushFan™

The only qualification is to not ask idiotic questions about who constitutes a True Rush Fan.

We are never going to acheive pure consensus so....

80's album it is!!!!

:)

How strange is it that their highest point AND their lowest point came in the same decade?

You can hold that opinion and still be a TrueRushFan™. There is still hope for you.

Shouldn't there be some recognition of those who find VT to be amongst the finest of Rush's post-Broon output as a defining feature of the True Rush Fan?

Perhaps, are we talking aboot Vapor Trails or Vapor Trails Remix???

That first option is mine! Don't I get some sort of royalty? :P

Being chosen is its own reward.

You'd just buy more Rush crap with the royalty money, to prove what a true Rush fan you are.

I'm running out of Rush crap to buy!

A TrueRushFan would appreciate Vapor Trails for what it is: a triumphant return from unimaginable tragedy. The remix matters not.

Unless you just hate VT entirely, that is…in which case

You're correct except once the remix hit the streets the original VT became dead to me.

Another sad man who won't make the cut.

Your approval means less than nothing to me.

VT is awesome in any incarnation because greatness transcends.

I don't disregard entire decades (the 90's, cough, cough) but I just enjoy Rush's career beginning and end works more than some of the middle. works before 1982, however.

SHOOT! A TrueRushFan™ probably never uses the smiley heart emoji !! I am doomed . . . . .

Next will come the idea that if someone thinks You Bet Your Life is their best song then they're a true fan. I disagree with this kind of thinking.

You're "true" if you weather the storms. It's easy to be "true" if you love it.

How did I even wind up on TRF?

I beg to differ. You like at least some songs from each era, don't you?

Let's run down the list:

1. Possibly I could fit in this description.

2. Last Rush song I loved before swearing off of music for twenty years was Dreamline, so I never heard T4E until a few years ago.

3. Never had lice - public or private or ... wherever - and don't even know what one looks like.

4. Sometimes I go weeks without listening to Rush.

5. I wouldn't say I appreciate and respect at least 90% of their music - more like in the vicinity of 75/80%.

6. I could have attended a show back in the day when they were at their peak, but I didn't. Shame on me.

I could have attended an R40 show, but for reasons I prefer to keep confidential, I didn't. Semi shame on me.

7. I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me.

I love the seventies and up to Signals in the eighties. After that, hit and miss. I really love, believe it or not, Test For Echo. Not so much Vapor Trails, but I do like about half of the songs on Snakes. CA at first was entrancing, but it's too flimsy and doesn't stand the test of time with me musically without falling flat. Nevertheless, I like about four songs on the album. The rest, if I never heard them ever again, I wouldn't miss them.

That's it in a nutshell. Bit I do adore Rush's bootlegs.
