Lost In Xanadu Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 What a mess that rain delay made. Should make for a nice father's day!
goose Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I am on the road at a swim meet, so most likely won't be able to watch. Terrible weather has made it tough in the early rounds...especially for those who were stopped and had to re-start without a warm-up.
Lost In Xanadu Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 Sergio surging!how about Day? -4 today. Those putts he was missing by inches yesterday are falling today

Disembodied Spirit Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I just looked at the leaderboard and went...Who are these guys??
goose Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Alright...back from the swim meet...just in time to watch Sergio save it from the junk! At -2, he's looking good. Furyk posting a good number as well. And DJ just blew it by the hole at hole 8. Gonna be a great finish!
goose Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Im hoping DJ gets the monkey off his back. That free drop out of the rough sure helped his cause. 1
goose Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Drama around a possible penalty for DJ. Did he did, or did he didn't make dat ball move?????
goose Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Noonan!!! DJ gives one back. re: the possible stroke penalty, I am on board with the tweets from the other pro's. To rule one way, then say it may change on video review post-completion of the round is stupid. The video won't change... 1
goose Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Here's the tricky part with the moving ball problem. It's well-known that one's shadow cools the grass which can make a ball move. that trick can be used during the ten seconds you have to wait for a putt to drop from the edge of the hole. I suppose it's possible that DJ's shadow cooled the grass, which then made the ball move. That would be a huge stretch, though, as the shadow was only near the ball, not over it. The whole situation makes the USGA and the rules of golf look petty and silly. It's a dumb rule, really. You can legally mark and replace a ball, so why not just allow a guy to replace it?

Plus there was a rules guy there that told him it was OK.And to make it even more ridiculous, the USGA allowed DJ to legally move a ball from the rough to the second cut - due to a tower blocking his shot - and DJ hit his shot directly over the same tower! Yet the ball moving a micrometer on the green would have no influence on the putt. The rules of the green should be like the rules of the tee box. If you accidentally touch the ball, just replace it with no penalty. There's no advantage gained or penalty lost in terms of lie. The rough...different situation. 2
goose Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Missing with his wedge all day....and he stiffs it on the 18th hole!!! I hope he drains the putt, drops his pants, and tells the USGA to kiss his ass! 1
Lost In Xanadu Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Paulina almost came out of her dress going up the stairs 2
Principled Man Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 This Just In: The identities of the PGA officials at Oakmont have been revealed, and they are, coincidentally, the replacement referees from the 2012 Packer-Seahawk Fail Mary game. 1
GabesCavesOfIce Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Damn this one especially did not feel like a US Open on FOX. All the current and former players attacking the ref and defending the player. Put on ABC and watch the NBA if thats enjoyable in sports. This is supposed to be golfs toughest test. Damn Johnny Miller, where were you? DJ grounded his club right next to the ball multiple times. He swung his putter a millimeter next to the ball multiple times, causing the air around the ball to move. The ball moved. This was a penalty. Thankfully everyone else bogeyed out and it wasnt an issue, and we can enjoy Paulina's outfit in peace.

The officials sounded like idiots trying to explain their ruling and why it took over an hour to tell him. In the end the official who made the call admitted it was a judgement call, a 51% chance he caused the movement. If it was a judgement call then use ur damn common sense and let it stand instead of laying this on him with 6 holes to play in the most important moment of his life. After last years debacle on that joke of a course the USGA is quickly losing its credibility. The Lord of Golf, The Bear said it was a joke, he said if it was him he would have told them either penalize me now or don't, but don't drag this out until the end of the tournament. And as a side note my wife was disgusted with Paulina's white Frock Edited June 20, 2016 by alphseeker

And as a side note my wife was disgusted with Paulina's white Frock If he won by a stroke without calling a penalty, that would have been the shining moment and replay of this tournament. DJ wouldnt have wanted it that way and probably would have called it even if he was up only by one Perhaps the rule needs to be absolutely specific, if the putter moves within an inch of the ball(in this case it was much closer), and the ball moves within three seconds, its deemed the player caused it. If they change it to that perhaps players will be careful. Bottom line DJ was careless. I always thought he got screwed at whistling straights (fans are really allowed to stand in a "hazard" and disguise it from a player). Awesome he finally got one, and we got to see that white outfit. As far as dragging it out, the player is supposed to make the call. Ididnt see the usga have a choice when DJ declined except to show him the replay after the round
