In 1977 I was preparing myself for the brand new Incredible HULK TV show that first aired that November. I needed a few months to get myself ready for it.

Lou's even bigger here. His forearm is bigger than Thor's bicep! Just like the comic!

His hair looks like Rod Stewart's...

Not surprised. I mean, they're both beasts after all.

Six times in theaters between 1977 and 1979. First few times I'll never forget: we were living in San Jose that year and i saw it at the Century theaters (giant domes), next to the Winchester Mystery House. Christmas of '77, i got a boatload of SW stuff.

it was such a game-changer... still my fave of all the SW movies.

I was 11 and I thought it was the coolest movie ever made.

IMO, it redefined sci-fi movies and sort of took them out of the nerd realm. Episode 4 appealed to everyone. It was fresh, exciting, and humorous.

Also, it was very well done from the screenplay and special effects to the score by John Williams. Put in a different soundtrack and it's not nearly as good.

Saw it on a school field trip. Imagine a movie being so big that a school would send an entire class to see it on a school day.

On my visit to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, there were a bunch of elementary kids on a class field trip. Can't decide if it a cool thing or if is a waste. Would guess that the average kid wouldn't appreciate any of the inductees and would really only have interest in the stuff there for all of today's pop acts.

That's exactly why it's NOT a waste. There might be a kid in the class that learns about Hendrix or Queen for the first time. Just because the average kid might not appreciate it, doesn't mean the attempt shouldn't be made to reach others.

Anecdote: In a Japanese high school that I used to teach just a few years ago, I played Misty Mountain Hop to a class of seniors. Most of the class thought it was too heavy (which made me a bit sad actually). But after class, a couple of the kids came up to me and asked me more about Led Zepp. See, they played in a band and were crazy about music but somehow only vaguely knew about Page and Zepp. IF I had only addressed the "average" (Japanese) kid, I might've only played Western music they were already familiar with like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, or One Direction. And what good would that have been?

Epilogue: Less than two weeks later, those same dudes came up to me after school to thank me for talking to them about Led Zepp ((not even anywhere close to being my favorite band btw))...one boy had bought Led Zepp IV and seemed to love it like I love Moving Pictures. AND they were thinking about which Zepp songs they wanted to learn how to play.

And they rocked happily ever after.

True story.

I was just remembering how we used to play "Storm Troopers" during recess back in 3rd grade.

And you weren't jailed?

Wouldn't a game of "Stormtroopers" just end with everyone getting shot?

It depends. I don't think stormtroopers can hit an enemy unless it's a jawa or possibly Leia's guards (and Leia if using a stun gun which appears to zap the whole room). No one would ever die if the storm troopers fought other storm troopers.

I went to a drive-in where it was playing, where I spent most of the time making out with (or maybe trying to make out) with a girl. Don't remember much about the girl or the movie. It's the only one of the Star Wars I know anything about, and I don't know that much about it.

The theater in the little town I grew up in was normally only open on weekends. When SW came to town, he showed it every night for a week. I was at every show.
