Great day. Cubs complete the sweep over the Phillies (sorry lerxt) and both the Pirates and Cardinals lost their games today.

S'ok. We know we're going to lose to a team like yours and we need someone who can skull-f-ck the Mets. :)

Phillies are playing better baseball (except Ryan Howard, who needs to retire) than they did all last year. What's going on?

Their run differential is that of a 62 win team...

The team that is most underperforming their run differential? The 35-14 Cubs. The Cubs are 24-3 in games decided by more than 2 runs, 10-11 in games decided by 2 or fewer. They're 18-2 in games decided by 3 or more runs.

That doesnt matter, its wins. They found a way to win with some youth and a decent pen performance of rag tags. The starters have been hanging in there, but when they figure out the new kids that wont last. A few of our younger players were doing great early in the season too.

Last regular season loss with Arrieta on the mound was the Cole Hamels no-no.

I think they actually hit the ball better that game. Last night's effort, with the exception of Dexter, was feeble.

And now, they're 26-27. A performance in one run games like they've had so far this year is unsustainable. Didn't think it would happen this quickly, but it was eventually going to happen.

My wife and son will be at the Cubs game tomorrow. I had to work and so didn't make the trip. :(

Are they Dbacks fans? Chicago's quite the haul from Nevada.

They're probably fans of Jake Lamb's defense.

Javy goes deep to right but the Cubs still trail 3-2 with Jake still on the hook.

8-2 homestand. I'm not gonna complain.

Arrieta is now 0-1 since July 25, 2015 when the opposing team has a .900 or above BABIP. He's probably 0-1 in forever with the same BABIP.

Bullpen tries to give away a dominant 8 IP shutout from Lester. Soler possible hamstring injury (again, f**k) with Almora likely getting called up if he's put on the DL.

In more positive news, Kyle Hendricks pitches today!

Soler on 15-day DL, Almora taking his spot. Welcome to The Show, Almora!

Welcome to The Show, Almora. Huge outfield assist at the plate and his first MLB hit.

5 out of 6 for the season series against the Phillies. On to Atlanta!

Javy was 2-2 on pitches a foot out of the strike zone.

Now onto Atlanta, with Hammel, Arrieta and Lester facing the worst lineup in baseball. Anything other than a sweep will be a major disappointment.

Stat of the day. Reds relievers have given up one less run so far this year than the entire Cubs staff.
