Very sad that there weren't more votes in this very important poll.

I was surprised at that, too. I wouldn't think that voter apathy would run so rampant even among Rush fans, too, but...

Hemispheres would certainly not be the same without the ping/ting/ding.

I should have put this poll in the Rush forum instead, but .... one of the poll police might have reported me! ;)

:blah: Folks, that was Mr. JD from the Cincinnati area where Rush got their big break. He says he always called it a ding. Anyone have a response to that?

I'd like to phrase my response to that in the form of a question, Alex...

JD, you live in the Cincinnati area?? I'm in Dayton.

I drive about halfway to Cinci for work every day.

No. I think Lorraine meant Cleveland. I'm from the Akron area but moved to Georgia almost 30 years ago.

JD, I apologize. I'm lucky I remember my name and address these days. Which comes in handy in case I get lost. :codger:

I know someone in another thread asked you (I think it was Chica) where you lived. I thought you had said Cincinnati area.

I do the ding if I'm in the mood.

When I'm in the mood I schwing.

Like a noodle I bet. :)

I don't recall ever doing the ping that often when listening to Hemispheres. Usually, if my hands are free, I'm taking a two second break from playing air bass when the ping hits.

All right, I guess it's a little less than half way- Franklin. (But I live a little farther away than Dayton proper, too).

Now that I understand what we're talking about, yes I do indeed do the ting, every time!

is this the part in Hemispheres where Neil hits the triangle?

Uh-huh.

More importantly, it's when all of the other music stops so that the 'ping' can be heard exceptionally clearly.

Even Geddy did the "ping" during this tour.

Indeed!

Could it be evidence that he is sometimes here among the rest of us on TRF?

I wonder if he voted in this poll? I had him pegged for a pinger anyway. :)

I don't think the camera was on him during that part in my Tulsa video because I am sure I would have found it very funny to see Geddy do it.

I'm not sure what he did at other shows, but Geddy is a multi-talented pinger. In Columbus he mouthed the ping, while in Buffalo he used his right hand index finger. People all around me laughed.

A multi-talented pinger? That's impressive! :)
