BTW folks that are scrutinizing every note of the 60,000 to 100,000 notes played....it was 94 brutal degrees air temp...with no cloud cover...it was a sauna there, especially for those hailing from Ontario or the cool pacific breezes. Perspective please...

Yep - I could tell Alex especially was feeling the heat. I don't know why they keep playing this venue over and over when they should be playing the Verizon Center downtown - indoors and no traffic issues.

This.

I'm not from Virginia but was in the area so went and although not terrible by any means considering the reviews (i only waited an hour to get out which I had no major problem with, acoustics weren't terrible also) but Verizon seemed like the perfect spot to do this considering this has also been a majority arena show. A lot of bands seem to love this venue because they go here constantly.

The only thing I can think of for Verizon was since the Capitals/Wizards were both in playoffs and had a shot to make it deep, certain dates may have been booked off. In the end of course it didn't matter I'd imagine Verizon has been empty for weeks now.

Had an amazing time. I agree with the crowd being dead, I was up in the lawn and the amount of dirty looks I was getting for enjoying myself and singing along to every song was bit a downer. I mean we all came here to have a good time, didn't we?

On the other hand the venue seemed to be pretty well laid out, I was a bit bummed when I could only afford lawn tickets, especially after spending so much time at the the Va Beach Amphitheater in my teenage years and not being able to see anything short of a spec. Ended up with a great view and got some good footage to stow away and look at whenever I want.

Neil had some issues tonight...Alex looked best, and had the guitar problems in 2112 and Geddys voice needs a break. Set list was great though...

Let me fix what I wrote last night, (on a cell phone) Alex looked BEAT...not best.... He looked like he was dying with the double neck on his back...

Both Alex n Neil would have an easier time if they dumped the extra weight. They looked fairly taxed-out. Geddy looked as fresh as a cheerleader the whole show!

Truthfully...I was thinking that for Neil...when they showed him on the big screen during his second solo, you could see the beer gut! Besides the smoking, I always thought he was weight conscious!?!?

Didn't think Alex looked bad weight/health wise...but he didn't look like his usual happy, fun self!

Same here! I was thrilled to meet the dc contingent! Sorry my adrenaline was so pumped. I was scatter brain (wife would say that's normal for me!)

Nothing like a last second 320 mile drive to Rush and meeting some cool TRFers!!

I am not sure if anyone posted it yet but heres the train wreck from Bristow

its funny because I've never heard them do something like this ever then again I haven't heard every show. But it was kind of funny in the end (about 30 seconds or so altogether)

The friend I was with was like "how did you know so soon?" I told him I used to study the drum parts back in those days... I was playing along and was like "WTF?!?!"

Did you take that video? Looks very close to where I was in orch. 2

I recall saying DEW WTF during and after the song. The best I could figure out is Alex guitar (no darn single quote on the surface tablet, iPad is outta juice, ugh)

Anyway Alex guitar I think cut out in DEW and either they were stalling for it to cut back in or they need his riffs for timing in that song.

I agree its rather difficult to hear his guitar normally in DEW as that song is from the one neck era (four necks are...)

Didn't take the video but yeah it was quite amusing in the end. Again its something to talk about jokingly… they don't always need to be perfect. I've heard DEW about a trillion times so its kinda cool to here botched if that makes sense.

That coulda been the guy next to me filming.

Sometimes fans can get critical. I like how you said it, they don't need to be perfect. Young bands make flubs live, today, yesterday, even the mighty Rush did it in 1974...I listened to an old recording today!

I think the jam band way of doing it, is to prevent this kind of discussion. "Every day is different, man." It's the way it feels today, man."

The Rush way takes guts. To try to perfectly recreate intricate songs. Wish I knew that back in high school hearing the nonsense from Stones and Dead fans complaining that all Rush "knew" was how to memorize their LPs. They'd laugh when I'd challenge them or their bands to attempt LVS. "Who'd wanna play that, man."

But I was thinking WTF during DEW the other night. I still think it was hard to hear the guitar at that moment, it sounded like it was cutting out briefly...and made keeping time difficult for all three of them.

And now for a little entertainment while we wait... :7up: :dweez:

Could this be Brooklyn CA tour when the guitar cut out during Overture and Alex couldn't get the tech's attention? Al did a dance just like that, but I think it was before he threw the guitar off the stage to get their attention?

I created this and yes it is from the CA tour, probably Broklyn but I don't recall exactly. This was while he was waiting for the guitar to be restrung.

Pretty sure it was Neil that f'd that up. Alex and Geddy are still in sync with each other throughout the trainwreck, with Neil a couple measures behind. If you listen to it from the beginning, it sounds like Neil went a few measures to long at the end of the guitar solo before going back into the main bridge. Something Alex played a bit differently in the solo may have sparked it, but Neil is the one who lost it.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to listen again to the full song. About a minute in, I started having trouble hearing Alex in the mix, and yes the drums sounded off also.

Yeah...Neil skipped a verse and went into the end section..The only way it wasn't Neil's fault was if they planned the skip to shorten the song, and HE hit it and they didn't.

Pardon me, but is the R40 t-shirt that Geddy was wearing in the Tulsa show I have, the one with the two doggies, is that the official one for sale? If so, I love it.

I haven't seen it. Could be though. Have you looked at the backstage club?

No, I never think to look there. I will go and see.

It's a great t-shirt and one I would love to get.
