Augustiner is one of the very old family owned breweries exclusively in Munich, and their food and beer did not disappoint in the beer hall. I was wearing that CA Tour shirt as we were connecting through London to get from Amsterdam to Munich. The UK's dumb and requires a full immigration run-through even when you're just connecting flights and not leaving the terminal, so as I went through, the immigration officer asked what my shirt was. I opened my coat to show it and his response was perfect. goose Posted April 18, 2015 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Munich > Barcelona > Paris > Rome > Amsterdam >>>>>>>>>> Florence Of that list, the only place I haven't been to is Paris (wierd...I know). Munich is a great city. Lots to do, easy to navigate (once you get inside the ring...having gotten through all the construction). The Bavarians are fun people, and you're so close to the Alps. I really do love that part of the world. nice call stopping in at the Augustiner! Barcelona is wonderful. Very hip, with great food and art everywhere. I love the ubiquitous influence of Gaudi, Miro and Picasso, and the Catalan influence as well. Lots of beautiful beachfront in Barcelona...and beautiful people too! I agree with you on Florence. 15 years ago it was much more charming, but it's a bit crowded now. The art is amazing, and the history of the Medici's is enthralling, but it's definitely a place where you need to be able to throw around some cash. I found a great Irish Pub when I was there last. Will you be able to visit Normandy? Normandy was too much of a logistical issue for the trip, due to the distance and money needed. Probably not going to get to Normandy this time around. I am 46, older than you and it is the trips I took, things I saw, that define you as you age.I was lucky to live in Hawaii, Chicago, DC as a Kid. Denver, Dallas, Memphis, Florida as an adult.With travel to tons of places as an adult. Now my job allows me to travel about 100 days a year,It has taken me to Boston, San Fran, Atlanta for 2 week long stays, and less exciting locales as Jackson, MS, Little Rock and Ann Arbor.But I try to appreciate everything a city has to offer. Was taught that as a child.You will be a better man because of this trip. Glad you enjoyed it. It will actually mean more to you 10 years from now.
