Some Tiger golf worth watching?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee found out Thursday that a sense of humor and Twitter don't mix.

Scobee jokingly challenged Tiger Woods on Twitter to a skins match at San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville -- for $100,000 a hole -- and offered to give him two strokes a side.

He didn't tag Woods in the tweet and followed it up with another tweet in which he said he meant to text that to Woods.

Not surprisingly, the tweet went viral, and -- even though it was meant as a joke -- some people came after Scobee pretty hard on social media.

Scobee, appearing Friday on The Midday 180 in Nashville, said he thought of the tweet while in line at Chick-fil-A and fired it off without much thought.

"Obviously it was a complete joke," Scobee said.

Asked Friday whether he could have handled losing all 18 holes to Woods at $100,000 a hole, Scobee said he'd have been just fine, joking that he would have been crying and might have been divorced.

"But I'd have been OK," he said.

Scobee, a plus-3 handicap who attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open in 2010, is entering the final season of a four-year, $13.8 million contract.

Woods announced Wednesday that he was taking an indefinite break from golf because the shape of his game is not acceptable. That announcement followed his career-worst round of 82 in the second round of the Phoenix Open and his withdrawal after 11 holes at the Farmers Insurance Open last week.

Scobee just completed his 11th season with the Jaguars and holds franchise records in scoring (1,022 points), field goals (234) and field goal accuracy (80.97 percent). He also has 26 field goals of 50 or more yards, including a 59-yarder to beat Indianapolis in 2010.

Justin, JB, Jim and John leading at Pebble Beach.

Great venue...

It's a beautiful venue alright. I'm having a tough time watching it, however, as they show too much of the celebrities... (not my cup of tea) :sigh: maybe I'll get into it more over the weekend. Jason Day shot 9 under today! :dweez:

Yeah, the event is unwatchable if you're a golf fan. Better to spend your day You-Tubing classic Pebble clips like Watson's famous chip.

I am watching the end of this one..... :codger:

Snedeker will be tough to catch. Good to see Furyk still plugging away.

I just love that guy!

Yep. Sneeeedeker has it under control. Furyk is the walking talking personification of "a man's got to know his limitations". Tough to be great that way but damn easy apparently to be very good.... :)

The mandatory hot wife.... :)

They all $eem to have hot wives, lol.

Congrats to Sneds... Another 54 hole lead by Furyk where he couldn't close the deal.

Jason Day was charging for a while in the 4th round, but had an unsatisfactory tee shot on the 12th. He let go with a string of obscenities :tsk: :tsk: caught on the microphone. CBS apologized for airing those comments. Naughty, naughty.

Sorry, Jason, you are innocent and not the one cursing. - the truth comes out and it's your playing partner Beljan who is guilty!! (it looked like it was Jason, but he's not the one, mate). My apologies...

Graham DeLaet lets go my Canadian brother!!. Only 1 back after two rounds... :dweez: :D-13:

I'd sure like Graham to finally win. Nick Faldo may have jinxed him yesterday by naming him as 'my early call'. I guess if he can't get 'er done, if would be ok if the 'goose' wins (in my books, anyways)
