  1. 1. Do you think of Permanent Waves as a 70s album or an 80s album

    • Yes - every part of the album was started and finished in the 1970s.

    • Yes - it is more like the prog era music than the synth era music

    • No - it was released on Jan 1, 1980, and I'm a stickler for details

It was released in 1980. It's important to keep it in the 80s. Otherwise HYF makes it a lost decade for the band.

I would never force Permanent Waves to hang out with Hold Your Fire. That is cruel and unusual punishment.

Yeah, but without PeW, the mid to late 80s might be too much for even MP and Signals to salvage.

You know I'm right. ;)

Bah, you probably order your New York strip well done with catchup on the side.

I think ketchup is an overrated condiment. I order my steak medium rare.

And the hardcore synth era stinks.

On a lesser scale debate, I remember some saying Presto (released in November '89) was a 90s album.

I was born in 1972 which means I'm a child of the 1950s. :smoke:

Presto IS a 90s album, you just have to squint a bit and use your frontal cerebral cortex. ;)

And Presto is also a hip hop album because it's close enough in time to the rap given in Roll the Bones. It counts!

As I said, I'm a 50s child born in '72 with the heart of someone born in the roar in' 20s.

Additionally, my name's JohnnyBlaze which means you should call me "Mabel". :smoke:

Poll latest: 51-48 to the 80's.

Lends credence to the premise that it is half seventies, half eighties. :smoke:

My count says 49-49 now. Some folks have changed their minds it seems. :smash:

Have we reached a conclusion yet?

Currently, 50.5% "yes it's 70s" to 49.49% "no it's not"

It's funny to me because those that say it's a 70s album seem to scream louder that it's that.

Yet, it's almost exactly a 50/50 split.

I'm pretty sure if one were to conduct another forum poll, those that say it's a seventies album would say the same about those that say it's an 80s album. Of course, any assessment of that would require establishing what constitutes loud screaming in this virtual neck of the webwoods.
