Rush's End Game

I would LOVE to see them at Massey Hall too! However, it probably doesn't make financial or logistical sense because they'd have to rent it for a few nights, and each night they play would take a certain amount of energy out of them... Great thought, but in today's market, I fear it's a dream.

Second only to Massey would be to see them at Radio City. It's about twice as large but equally historical (kind of the states' version of MH).

Rush isn't historically known for making logistical or financial sense.. Plus at the moment I think they're pretty pleased with their fans..

Here's hoping any way..

Honestly, I think they'll take a year off then in 2015, they'll set out on a tour like The Time Machine Tour where they'll play Permanent Waves in its entirety. It would be that albums 35th Anniversary and like this they can give their demanding fans Jacob's Ladder. Additionally they'll give us Different Strings which has never been played live among other songs they've never played live before like Cut to the Chase, Sweet Miracle or Vapor Trail. It should be a pretty pleasant tour and setlist:

Set 1:

Far Cry

Caravan

Limelight

Cut to the Chase

Sweet Miracle

Limbo

Show Don't Tell

Test for Echo

Clockwork Angels

2112 O/T/F

Set 2:

The Spirit of Radio

Freewill

Jacob's Ladder

Entre Nous

Different Strings (With Extended Outro-Solo by Alex)

Natural Science

The Anarchist

Red Barchetta

Distant Early Warning

Mal-Nar / Drum Solo

Alex's Solo/ The Garden

Hemispheres (Prelude)

Xanadu (Entire)

Encore:

New World Man

Tom Sawyer

Headlong Flight

I have a feeling they'll never play Xanadu live again. As much as I'd love to hear it I just don't think Geddy is up to the vocals anymore.

If Clockwork Angels turns out to be their last album that's honestly okay with me. I'd prefer them to go out on top rather than release a bad album and quit after that (imagine if they actually did go down the tubes in 1975 or quit after Hold Your Fire). I expect at least one or two more tours. And if they actually did play Xanadu again that would be sweet. Geddy should be able to sing Xanadu well enough, he managed it on R30 and that's when his voice was noticeably starting to show age.

I think he meant Thread Starter by (TS). Hence, its me! I must have hit a nerve or I he really enjoys his state of denial, where RUSH is always in existence and they never get old or retires. However much I would hate that day, Its coming buddy. Someday! :codger:

well, you're not really trolling per se, but you definitely post the same shit over and over. no offense

Are you refering to my numerous amount of Setlists? No Offense taken. I'm just living up to the name (Setlist Swami) they placed on me.

Whenever they decide it is the last tour, it should go like this......

Only one concert a week...

Every show is a two day concert...

One ticket gets both nights....

That way they can play a HUGE array of songs. :Alex: :Neil: :geddy:

Farewell Tours are just a 'money making' gimmic.

How can Rush just stop writing music ?

Its a life times work and a lifetimes friendship.

I would imagine it will take the unexpected death of one of the band which will bring an end to the greatest band ever to play on this planet !!

Well your right on one account, They are the greatest Band in the world! The rest is pretty damn selfish! They can stop writing music when ever the hell they want. They weren't placed on this earth just to write music for you or anyone. They do that because they love it. They've been giving us great music and great concerts for over 40 Years now. I think they deserve to retire if that's what they want. I really hope, for their sake, that they take some time to enjoy life with their families. They are 60+ years old now. Life doesn't last for ever.. I hope it doesn't have to come to one of them dieing in order for therest to be able to retire. Thats just damn selfish! They can do what they want and I'll support their decision. Which ever form it may take.

I think a farewell tour would just be too....sad. Like when Alex said in The Boys in Brazil that they have to look at every tour as their last, because you never know what could happen.

I personally think they have at least 10 years left and possibly 2 albums in that timeframe, but I could be very wrong on that one.

I truly hope you right Sir, about the 10 years that is!

Me too man! If not ah well, but I have to see this band before they hang it up! I do agree about them needing rest and being with their families for sure though.
