Rod in Toronto
I can´t think of any other band with so many leaked demo tapes on the internet than Van Halen. And I stumbled upon these great ones today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgduNgMuSnA# https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIt6elJu92M&feature=fvwp Early versions of a bunch of great songs they recorded through the Dave years, more than half of A Different Kind of Truth, and a few gems which never received a final treatment are there, with somewhat sillier lyrics and Dave´s powerhouse vocals. Hope you like them.
custom55
Love this stuff.. I've had ZERO for years and it sounds great. I love how Big Trouble, recorded/demoed in the 70's, shows up up on a Different Kind of Truth as Big River. They have also remastered a few of the the MTV videos from the early 80's. GeddyLeeRoth
I've listened to both of these demos several times. Freakin love 'em, even if they aren't as good as the finished albums. I'd pay good money to get ahold of the Warner Bros 90 min. version.
Rod in Toronto
It´s amazing how effortlessly Dave could do his banshee scream. That´s what I miss the most about old Van Halen. Around "A Little Ain´t Enough" he couldn´t do it anymore, and that´s a shame - the old classics lose half their impact on stage without those screams. Rod in Toronto
Just found this demo version of Secrets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB16umhm_M4 Not much different from what made it to the record, except for the synths.

I really, really like Diver Down. Hang em High, Secrets, Little Guitars. All great VH tunes. I think one of Eddie's finest moments can be heard in Hang'em High. Rod in Toronto
Funny enough, we don´t see many VH demos from the HAgar years. I wonder why?

That phrasing can't be duplicated.
Presto-digitation
Amazing track. Incredible rhythm work and how seamlessly he slips in and out of leads.
