  1. 1. Which Album Do You Love The Most?

    • "Countdown To Extinction" MEGADETH
    • "The Black Album" METALLICA
    • None of these crappy sell out commercial pop records!

well overkill's newer releases smoke metallica and megadeth's newer stuff but overall I think megadeth's the best band out of the three of them

Never got into Overkill. Which albums should I pick up?

Being an East Bay guy Death Angel has always been one of my favorites.

They have never sold out either! They Rule!

I'd start with Horrorscope then The Years Of Decay. If you like those pick up Taking Over, then the last two are awesome as well- Iron Bound and The Electric Age.

Pretty much this. Ironbound and The Electric Age are killer modern thrash albums.

As for the original topic. I love both albums. TBA was my first metal album (yeah yeah, one of those guys), so I really enjoy it. Songs like The Struggle Within, Holier Than Thou, Through The Never, The God That Failed, etc., are all fantastic songs.

Buuuut, Countdown gets the nod for me. I mean, Architecture of Aggression, Ashes In Your Mouth, Captive Honour, the title track, Psychotron. It's a killer album. Sweating Bullets and Symphony of Destruction are a tad overplayed to me, but it doesn't really hurt the album, IMO.

But yes, Megadeth wins this round. The second half of Ashes In Your Mouth alone is enough to catapult this album over a lot of landmark metal releases.

Haha! Ok Baby you bad girl! Prepare to be spanked!

Perhaps you like "S&M" as well? Wink wink.

That's a live Metallica album with orchestra right?

Another terrible Metallica album!

Even Rush has an orchestra now!

"It's the end of the world as we know it but I feel fine."

Time for some REM.

I'm talking about sleep. Not that crappy band that sings about losing my religion!

Cheers!!

The Black Album is the last Metallica album I got into on a deep level (though the last one ain't bad...)

Awesome tour, too.

Wasn't the Death Magnetic tour In The Round?

Missed it!

Yes, it was in the round and it was an excellent show. They don't play anything off the Loads or Saint Anger anymore, except for Fuel. Even they know those albums suck I guess. One thing I love about Metallica is that they always switch up 6 or 7 songs every night and they're usually songs off the first four albums. So while the main format of the set stays the same they always surprise you with a handful of random songs.

Here's the set from the last time I saw them in 2009:

That Was Just Your Life

The End Of The Line

Creeping Death

No Remorse

One

Broken, Beat & Scarred

Cyanide

Sad But True

Turn The Page

All Nightmare Long

The Day That Never Comes

Master Of Puppets

Damage Inc.

Nothing Else Matters

Enter Sandman

Blitzkrieg

Phantom Lord

Seek & Destroy

Megadeth all the way! Agree on Overkill too. Almost everything they've done is gold.

As far as modern thrash bands.....Havok's album Time is Up from last year was a damn near instant classic for me.

Great album. Love 'the Cleric'.

That's not ab bad set at all! I fukking love the encore.

To be honest I really wanted to go to that show. I thought they were trying to go back to their old school roots.

The last time I saw Metallica I was disgusted and never paid to see them again.

It wasn't their fault in all reality.

It was Metallica opening up for Guns N Roses at the Oakland Coliseum.

When Metallica hit the stage all of these fukking idiots were ripping up the Oakland A's outfield in chunks and throwing it all around!

I was furious being an A's season ticket hold. Hell I still am an A's season ticket holder!!!

Anyway during the show I thought that Lars was still just another short man's ego complex. He always had to stand up short and yell out to the crowd and bullshit. I've never been a big Lars fan.

Anyway then Guns N Roses came out onto the stage.

By that time I was beyond pissed thanks to the lame as Metallica punks destroying the A's outfield.

I was so bored watching GNR on the second deck that my ex girlfriend and I split early.

She wanted to stay but I said "FUKK THIS!" NO RESPECT IN OAKLAND!

I will support my A's over Metallica anyday. F GNR TOO! I saw them at The Joint in Vegas a night after Rush. THEY STILL SUCK! AXL IS A TOOL!

Shit I'm babbling again. Sorry!

metallica was my first concert, on the death magnetic tour a few years back. enjoyed it a lot then, not sure if I'd enjoy it as much now. tastes change and I've been to a lot more and better shows since then.

Hard one to pick since I don't really like either group much. Don't have any of Megadeaths work (don't want to get any of it) and the only Metallica songs I like are "Enter Sandman", "Nothing Else Matters" and "Turn the Page" (don't even compare it to the original - the original is soooo much better). Of the 2 albums listed I can barely tolerate The Black Album. Voted for it since it is the least worst of the 2 (and the best of anything that either group has done - IMO). Obviously I am not a fan of either group.
