What a load of shite!

Very poorly written, almost school standard.

Gotta admit--it didn't move the needle!!!

In a world where he feels so small, Tony R can't stop thinking BAD.

That said.. I can't read it. Somewhat of a mental block for me and electronic books. I have to read a novel that is paperback.. sometimes hardback. So I won't know anything about it until it comes out. trink39.gif

The prose is pretty poor, isn't it? And the dialogue is cringeworthy.

That said, it'll be a treat to hear Neil read the audiobook in his booming, expressive voice. Maybe he'll be able to liven up the material a little. Maybe.

I was intrigued by all the RUSH references. Which made me wonder if any of the songs they hinted at would make an appearance in a CA Setlist. So far they've hinted at:

Carvan

Jacobs Ladder

Cold Fire

BU2B

Time Stand Still

Countdown

Clockwork Angels

All songs I would love to hear live!

Not enough of anything on the earth to make me want to put Scotch on rocks.

Neat, as God intended it (if there is one. But then, there is Scotch, so...)

I hate to jump on the "this sucks" bandwagon, but the writing is not terribly good. Mr. Anderson had to take a character (not a plot) from Neil Peart and try to fit all the events already chronicled in the songs and build an interesting narrative around the whole thing in a few months. It's probably better than it could have been.

I will still listen to the audio book because Neil has a great reading voice. I don't think anyone was looking for Pulitzer Prize material anyway.

Great contribution, as always.

Hmmmm- I gotta admit so far it does not read well. Introducing a character as "his one true love" lacks any kind of impact. Show, don't tell, IMO. Especially since the show part of their relationship leaves me unconvinced Owen even really believes it himself.

Also the references to the songs are so direct they feel forced. We can get that he's thinking big without him actually saying it. Show, don't tell, IMO. Oh wait, I said that already.

I think I'll probably buy it just so I'll know the story to hang the songs in, but I'm not impressed with the writer.
