  1. So sad. used to listen to much of their earlier stuff. Great musician. Praying for family and friends as they deal with this sudden loss.
  2. Greatly missed. A lot of gaps are filled here. Good to know he kept active as much as he could till the end. Look forward to hearing Olivia play as her dad said, "she has it." (The same article in here so you don't need RS subscription) The Spirit Of Neil Peart
  3. Wow thanks Jag2112! I got lost in this essay and went to yesteryear with the band. Some really neat tidbits and details. I was all caught up in it and worked my way down. Then I got past the credits and saw the memorium...and some tears came down. Six months later.... RIP Neil.
  4. Led Zeppelin is the epitome of what would become rock and roll and metal to some extent. They were straight forward in your face, but had the soft side of beautiful ballads too. Pink Floyd were masters of going down different musical rabbit holes where you didn't know where you'd come out. The Sid Barret tragedy affected them down the road. Styles are distinctively different. Both musical geniuses. I go with Led Zeppelin cause they were true to each other and never reformed, Meanwhile PF split up.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r_RiA3F46o .........i think this song has a slight twist on YYZ intro in it.
  6. They're a great band. Unfortunately not been able to get to next level. Drummer's style is similar to Soen's Lopez. Guitar switches it up a bit like Lifeson, though it's a different style of music. Their albums could have used better production. Even so, good stuff.

  10. Way underrated and overlooked. Early stuff is groundbreaking. He diversified over the years going from rock to jazz fusion to pop. Host of band members changes over the years. Usually 10-15 musicians on stage. Santana shreds, leaving many a guitarist in the dust.
  11. ...another beautiful duet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36Y0Xf26eSI&list=RD36Y0Xf26eSI&start_radio=1&t=21

  17. So much style without substance So much stuff without style It's hard to recognize the real thing It comes along once in a while
  18. What about Maiden touring with KK's Priest as the support band? Actually if you think about it, the ultimate Judas Priest 50th anniversary tour would have KK's Priest opening. You get all the members in one night, just not at the same time (maybe one encore song with everybody). They could coordinate their sets so that no songs are played twice. There's a better chance of one of us finding a million dollars in our sofa though. ...and have both Saxons, so you'll really have "Strangers in the Night"

  20. Sabaton is a fun live band. Very catchy songs that are great to sing along to. Just don't take them too seriously as musicians and everything will be fine. I am just not a "power metal" guy whatsoever beyond a handful of bands like helloween, blind guardian, iced earth, gamma ray... I saw them with amon amarth and couldn't get into it at all. Oh, ok. Iced Earth isn't power metal though. I see them more in a traditional metal vein. They're a more aggressive and darker version of Maiden. for the most part I agree. I think they sort of blur the line, like the early fates warning and queensryche stuff too Sabaton is too cheesy for me. also saw them with AA a few years back. but i guess Judas Priest doesn't mind them plagiarizing their material...Fields of Verdun, feels overdone! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP8G-LwWNn0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLMuv5dc-rQ
