  1. QUOTE (Tony R @ Aug 8 2012, 02:44 PM) What a load of shite! Very poorly written, almost school standard. The prose is pretty poor, isn't it? And the dialogue is cringeworthy. That said, it'll be a treat to hear Neil read the audiobook in his booming, expressive voice. Maybe he'll be able to liven up the material a little. Maybe.
  2. iTunes mixed up the track names on Halo Effect and Carnies. So Halo Effect is listed as track 5, but when you play it, it's Carnies. And vice versa. This will surely confuse some more casual fans.
  3. From The Anarchist: "I like their smiles and their diapers, I like their happiness and love" I thought the line was about babies. From The Wreckers: "Strap it down like a buffalo balloon"
  4. The first 5 minutes and 1 second are good, then it sucks.
  5. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 1 2012, 01:12 PM) QUOTE (jacob's ladder @ Jun 1 2012, 01:54 PM) Facepalm island- too funny lol!!! Get to listen to the samples yet? ANYONE play the Clockwork Angels snippet backwards yet? There is clearing backwards vocals and more than likely backwards instruments as ambient noise in the background of the clip. Makes the hair stand up on the back of my next though, the Geddy vocal bits are downright eerie and that tracks sounds just chock full of edgy atmosphere. I just did. Couldn't make out much but the last (first?) word is clearly "love."
  6. Surprised no one has mentioned Geddy channeling Sting vocally on the title track. Very nice vocal in a style he hasn't done before.

God, what awful writing. Put away your flowery adjectives, pretentious sentence structures, and baffling cultural references. Just tell us something of substance about the album, instead of wasting our time with this junk.
  8. QUOTE (furie @ May 19 2012, 12:24 PM) i don't know if this counts as a leak but my local independent record store is selling the CD a few days early, as soon as they come in. What store is this? I live upstate and may be willing to make the trip, depending how far in advance it will be.
  9. No, this is not another thread about Geddy's voice. What's bugging me is that the vocals seem really low in the mix on this track. They're consistently getting drowned out in the heavy parts (basically all) of the song, and I only wish they came through with the clarity that we finally get in the last chorus, when the bass and drums drop out. I'm especially disappointed because I feel the Caravan and BU2B mixes are very well done. The melody simply has to come through loud and clear, and unfortunately that doesn't happen on this track. Hopefully the rest of the album will be different.
  10. In the new short film "Inner Rush", Caravan is played in the background at around the halfway point. The first time I watched the film I noticed that the vocals sounded different, so I went back to that section a couple times, and now I can't say for sure. It may just have to do with how the track was edited, or the dialogue over top of the music might be throwing me off. Check it out for yourself: http://www.nfb.ca/film/inner_rush Any thoughts? Maybe someone more intelligent than I knows how to isolate that part of the audio?
  11. QUOTE (likeclockwork @ May 2 2012, 09:46 PM) The melodic songs are genuinely GOOD. They're just modern sounding, not throwbacks. The Garden is one of the best and most inspired pieces of music I've heard from the band in many years. It's very much a fitting album closer and sounds totally like the final chapter in a concept story. It has a theatrical feel. Overall this is a very strong album with a lot of variety - much much much stronger than the past couple. Whether you love it or not, it's really quality and the songs have a lot of depth. (For whomever questioned whether I've heard it - I've quoted lyrics from Halo Effect & The Garden in past posts so feel free to check back in June for your answer). Awesome, thanks so much for your updates. I really appreciate what you have to say because I think we have similar expectations for the album, and your pre-release review of HF was spot-on. I know you're probably tired of the questions, and you probably want to be careful about how much you give away, but I'm wondering if you'd be willing to comment on the album's instrumentals (if there are any), or expand upon your feelings on the one track you don't care for. Thanks!
  12. If they were touring with an orchestra, I'm sure it would've been referenced in today's tour announcement. Moving Pictures in its entirety was the big gimmick of the Time Machine Tour, and that was front and center during the announcement. The only way it's possible is if they're still working out the logistics of it.
  13. Not to be rude, but who cares at this point if the listening party happened? We now have a release date, a track list, and a single coming in three days. The listening party won't be able to tell us anything too useful.
  14. Wish they'd picked this as the album cover, it's gorgeous. Add some clock hands to it and it's perfect.
  15. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 5 2012, 07:22 PM) Felt a little bit like the problem they had with Vapor Trails. Get ready for this thread to explode.
  16. I saved it to my computer. PM me with your email address if you would like to see it.
  17. QUOTE (Snaked @ Apr 3 2012, 02:36 AM) http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t254/snaked_arrowed/Something%20New/ClockworkAngelsCOVER7.jpg Perhaps at 9:12pm? Cool photo, did that come from Rush.com?
  18. We will find out the release date whenever they post the short clip of "Headlong Flight" online.
  19. Hmm... this could be the real cover. Definitely more plausible than any of the alleged covers we've see before.
  20. QUOTE (Your_Lion @ Apr 1 2012, 08:56 AM) QUOTE (Chrysalii @ Apr 1 2012, 01:41 PM) I just assume everything on the internet is a lie on April fools day. I don't believe you
  21. We whine for months about how we're not getting enough information, finally something significant breaks, and after a few hours we're getting too much information? Oh brother.
  22. Awesome! "Headlong Flight" is a very Rush-sounding title. We'll see if it turns out to be true.
  23. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 27 2012, 08:44 PM) Was it confirmed somewhere that it didn't actually happen, or are you just guessing/assuming it didn't because you haven't heard any official word yet that it DID happen? I'm not sure what kind of official word people were expecting to hear about this. The alleged event wasn't open to the public, so it's not like there was any real reason to have news coverage/official announcements surrounding it. It seems likely that one of the journalists in attendance would have posted something online, but just because that hasn't happened doesn't give me reason to think the event was cancelled/fictional. If we don't get an announcement or song sample by Friday, as it's rumored that we will, then maybe we can start to worry about yet another delay. Maybe.
