Mick I used to be a fan boy Really badly. But...I genuinely don't care if I never hear from them ever again. They just died to me...for no reason. Now when I hear them I am like "NEXT". yea i hear good moments mixed in with a whole lot of so what, lol Mick I very much agree. But for about three years they were pretty much top five permanently Trying to make sense...does not compute... I still really respect them and will always love them to a degree... ...but I no longer find them listenable. It's like...imagine if tomorrow I said I don't like Lacuna Coil and the music makes no sense, that's how weird this feeling towards Opeth is. One of the saddest things was losing touch with this band. I just don't have that intimate connection anymore. Silly man- look at the sentence of yours that I put in bold...I was only pointing out that I didn't know what to make of "for about three years" and "permanently". The two are mutually exclusive ideas, no? Hehe...pedantry wins! Oh! I see it now haha I meant as in for a good run of years they were consistently top of the pile. With every album they sound emptier. Radiohead are growing on me. The new album is great and I am opening up to older songs. Coldplay are fine. In a certain light they can be quite beautiful but always in a paper thin way. Again, so real substance beyond the fact they wear their hearts on their sleeves. But even then it doesn't seem like much goes on in their lives. They are pretty one dimensional. It's one of the great mysteries of music, the sheer diversity in taste that it envokes.
