I took blocks of three songs (not suites) off Rush Golden Age albums and the 4 blocks off CA... what do you select?

Then I'll repeat it taking off the first three blocks (that are supposed to be invincible) and entering three new-old blocks... you suggest which ones wink.gif

Rush has 4 ABSOLUTELY PERFECT album sides:

1. Side one of A Farewell to Kings

2. Side two of Hemsipheres

3. Side one of Moving Pictures

4. Side one of Permanent Waves

All four of those are represented here, except AFTK also has the excellent Closer to the Heart on side two, and Limelight is missing from from side one of MP.

I guess for me it would be between Farewell/Xanadu & Closer (if for no other reason because that group has Xanadu, even though the other two songs are also all-out classics), and Sawyer/Barchetta & YYZ (since they come from the greatest album side in the history of the world).

I really can't decide. All I know is that no matter how great the new album is, and it is great, there's no way any grouping of 3 songs together comes anywhere close to the sets of 3 songs together from Permanent Waves through Moving Pictures mentioned in this poll. no.gif

In terms of groupings of 3 songs, the songs from 1977-1981 are untouchable.

You left out a song here--a song that's much better than The Body Electric. wink.gif

Out of the options presented here, I went with TSOR/Freewill/JL. But I think this is the sort of question that's best left open ended instead of handled with polls. There are so many conceivable combos that people could go with.

On Sunday July 1st I'll put a new chart without the first three blocks in the chart (that are the Rush Holy Trinity wink.gif ), adding 5 new blocks off this list... select your candidate blocks smile.gif

What about Totem, Dog Years, Virtuality?

Seriously, I went with side 2 of Hemispheres, but Territories, Middletown Dreams, Emotion Detector and Force 10, Time Stand Still, and Open Secrets should be mentioned as well.

Also, this is weird. Closer does not follow Xanadu like some of the others do...It is on side 2. Strange to see it that way.

Side one of Signals, Side one of Grace Under Pressure and Side one of Power Windows are in their for me as well.

Subdivisions

The Analog Kid

Chemistry

Digital Man

Distant Early Warning

Afterimage

Red Sector A

The Enemy Within

The Big Money

Grand Designs

The Manhatten Project

Marathon

Now with CA I have the vinyl but only three songs on side one...so If I were to just add another tune I would put side one right up there with all the classics we both have.

Caravan

BU2B

Clockwork Angels

The Anarchist
