I would have no issues with him saying he does not like CA, gave his reasons, and moved on, but what he does is far beyond that and he knows he's doing it and enjoys it. To my ears this album is the reverse of S & A in that S&A started great and then got weaker during its 2nd half (although I enjoy "We Hold On"). CA, to my ears, starts week and gets better. How week, how much better and how much I like it I will, as said, continue to keep to myself. Need to get the time to listen to it more and really appreciate it. That doesn't mean I don't have a sense of objectivity when I listen to them. I think it's just that my cup is always completely full, musically speaking, when I listen to the boys, with the honest exception of the 1st album. Sanz Neil! It took my a long time to even accept that album as Rush! Oh, the irony! Do you know all the words to Face Up? Or Tai Shan? Or Good New First? Although I agree it is a free forum, and you should be able to voice your opinions. I still listen to everything else though, but they dont give me that 'rush'. Im not going to say this album is great just because they're old and at the end of their careers. Sure its better than nothing, but Permanent Waves is great. I cant use that same word for this album, most of which I find really dull because Geddy has no idea how to break away from this crap song writing style he started getting into around T4E I guess. Point is, I am trying to put together a ranking of all Rush songs (not including those from CA). I thought it would be hard and its even harder then I thought. Anyway, as part of this I actually paid special attention to VT. First I listend to the 1st 5 songs one night, the next 5 the next night and the remainder the 3rd night. Then I went back and gave then entire thing another listen at one sitting. No other album got this amount of time and effort. So what did I find? Found that I disliked it even more than I remembered. Oh well. At least their is sooo much good music by Rush out there. Just ignore VT from now on and enjoy all the good stuff. At least this helped firm up the bottom part of my list and the top 10 was not problem. Its everything else that is in-between that is tough to rank. And even though the thread has a major dig against VT, there is also the positive subtext that they've had two really good albums in a row now, and the recent one is pretty great, maybe even better than that! Right now I'm listening to Earthshine, and I'm instantly reminded why I don't like this album: Those damn Geddy choirs! I like Freeze too, except for that damn choir in the chorus. Otherwise it'd be a real good song IMO Personally I think since the 21st century began, the music started out crappy, got exponentially better with SnA, and now CA is just amazing.
