P-Tor
In all the promo materials and reviews I have seen for Clockwork Angels, it is always described as "Rush's 20th studio album". But is it really? It's only 19 by my count (unless you count Feedback - which I don't). What do you guys think? Is this their 20th studio album? Do you count Feedback? Principled Man
QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Jun 17 2012, 09:51 PM)An EP does not count as a studio ALBUM Why not? They made it in the studio. I don't think it matters that it's all cover songs. Many bands of the past put out albums that were barely over 30 minutes in length. Van Halen II = 10 songs, 32 minutes; Fair Warning = 9 songs, 30:58 Feedback = 8 songs, 27 minutes

Principled Man
QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Jun 17 2012, 10:13 PM)....but is too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP. According to whom? Wikipedia? The Music Industry gods? There is no official definition of an "EP". There is no official authority on what constitutes an LP or EP. The bands and their label companies call the albums whatever they want. Try THIS: According to the rules of the UK Charts, a recording counts as an "album" if either it has more than four tracks or lasts more than 25 minutes. I got that quote from your Wikipedia..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album

Shreddy Lee
The reason I don't normally count it is that it's all covers and therefore not their own original material, so it should be put aside in a different category than the rest of their original albums. Here's an image I took from wiki a week or two ago: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e85/rushgoober6/rushdiscography2.jpg Now if you go to the same page, they changed it: Rush Discography Page on Wiki There are tons of groups I love that have released EP's, and they are NEVER considered to be in the count when considering full albums by that group. NEVER. Sounds like revisionist history to me in order to make it sound like a nice round number. A 27-minute EP of cover tunes is NOT the same thing as a full studio album of original Rush material. Anyone who says differently doesn't want to deal with the truth.
