  1. I'll just say to never critique the bands overall tour performance on an opening night. I've been to three opening nights since R30 and all of them had their issues. Alex and Neil both seemed to be having a good time in Atlanta this past Tuesday while Ged seemed to be a little more enthusiastic. Also, it would make sense that they are going to try to play better and show a little more enthusiasm when being filmed for an official live release.
  2. I'd have to go back and listen to boots/YouTube to see of he consistantly struggled with Middletown. He sounds great on The Pass and Manhattan.
  3. I was able to see them all once. Overall very good. The vocals on Middletown Dreams are somewhat poor. When I saw the CA setlist after opening night I thought that Middletown was a great song for his current voice. Was expecting that to be one of the better vocal performances on this release, but he's all over the place on this one. Red Sector, Middletown and the Ged interview are still up at the site.
  4. Entire album streaming at Pandora. http://www.pandora.c...5/4729862491871
  5. Use xACT, it's free and you can convert to WAV for playback in itunes. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14246/xact You can also download Vox which is a decent little player for playing flac files. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24852/vox
  6. QUOTE (Ardent15 @ Sep 1 2012, 01:55 PM)Some have criticized the production/mixing on Rush's recent albums, and while I understand that, on this album it works. How does bad production/mixing work this time? This is easily what ruins it for me. Shame because this is some of the best material they've written in years.

Just wanted to ask, because the MP 96/24 is outstanding. Where to get???? https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=cat...=HD016861765637 Anyone know if you can download this from this site to a macbook into itunes then add to an ipod or iphone??? They are Flac files so you will need to convert. Try XACT - with it you can save as WAV, mp3 etc... and import into iTunes. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14246/xact
  8. QUOTE (canadianice @ Jun 29 2012, 10:01 PM)QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 29 2012, 09:41 PM) Even though 7 Cities is upbeat and would certainly translate live much better than songs like HE, Garden, but with the highs in it, even though they arent THAT high, are at the top of his current range, I can definitely picture that sounding like a disaster. He struggles to hit notes lower than that on a nightly basis during a tour. If they skip it, it wouldnt surprise me if that was why. You kill me, you could not even carry Ged's throat lozenges.Yet you have the punk ass arrogance to crtique his singing?, Get a grip, and don't quit your day job. Geeeesh I'm not understanding what's so bad about Trenken's post. A lot of truth to it.
  9. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 29 2012, 06:55 PM)I think Seven Cities Of Gold has a 50/50 shot of getting played. Geddy hits some pretty high notes on that song and it all depends on weather he's able to pull that off on a nightly basis or not. If it isn't played, I wouldn't be surprised. The same will apply to Headlong Flight. Not gonna be an easy one to pull of on a nightly basis. Hopefully there will be more youtube videos of on than off nights.
  10. While this thread has been informative, it's really sad we are having these discussions in relation to a new Rush album. Just don't understand how older groups like Rush are dupped into conforming to todays recording techniques. More than anything I can't believe going along with hiring a guy that masters freaking rap albums. Oh how I miss the days of 'Mastered by Bob Ludwig'.
  11. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jun 26 2012, 07:14 PM) I cranked it for the first time in my Truck today, and I really noticed how bad the production is. Especially the mixing.....at a loud volume it certainly doesn't sound too good. It's an very good system too.... Agree, the mixing is terrible. I can't believe I'm saying this but wish they would have let Chycki have a stab at it.

They made it in the studio. I don't think it matters that it's all cover songs. Many bands of the past put out albums that were barely over 30 minutes in length. Van Halen II = 10 songs, 32 minutes; Fair Warning = 9 songs, 30:58 Feedback = 8 songs, 27 minutes "An extended play (or EP) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_play Feedback ---> 27:08 Permanent Waves 35:40.

I'm considering getting it in HD too. My conscience is clear. HD?????? https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=cat...=HD016861765637
