Tommy Sawyer
QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Dec 15 2011, 11:52 AM) Well, she was just 17, You know what I mean, And the way she looked was way beyond compare. So how could I dance with another (ooh) When I saw her standin' there. . . . . Ther first song on the first album (British release) by the band that changed it all. Also, "It was 20 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play" and "Let me tell you how it will be. There's one for you, nineteen for me"

P and especially Taxman (one of George's all-time best tunes IMO) but left room for someone else jump aboard. There's always room on The Beatles' train. danielmclark
It's already been mentioned, but the opening line of The Cure's One Hundred Years is, quite possibly, the most apt lyric ever to open an album. It doesn't matter if we all die... Seven words that capture the tone and theme of the entire album. I can't think of a better example.

Unattractive Truth
I think it's dark, and it looks like rain, You said. And the wind is blowing like it's the end of the world, You said. And it's so cold, like cold if you're dead. Then you smile for a second... Or Something warm and soft just passed through here, It took the precious things that I hold dear... Or She's driving away, With her dim lights on. And she's making a play, She can't go wrong. She never waits too long....

greyfriar
And the lamb lies down on Broadway... Early morning Manhattan - ocean winds blow on the land... If you didn't care what happened to me - and I didn't care for you - we would zig zag... It was 20 years ago today Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play... A body is washed up on a Norfolk beach - he was a friend that I could not reach... Huddled in the safety of a pseudo silk kimono...
